Hi all
Can anyone get to www.bikehike.co.uk site (Normally plan all my routes on this)
If it's gone any recommendations on a similar site....need to be able to cut / merge routes / reverse routes etc as planning LEJOG for next May
Many thanks for your time

For the early morning ferry you board before 11.00pm the night before. I've used it a few times.[/quote]
Did not know that....thanks.
Price is per cabin.does that mean I have to share as I will.be a solo traveller ?
Thanks

As your on the Orkneys then if they sail on the day you want, its worth checking on the Northern ferries route Kirkwall -> Aberdeen.
Leave Kirkwall around 11-midnight, that the hassle bit but it does let you have a full days cycling on the island.
Arive Aberdeen around 7-ish in the morning, so hopefully find a quiet corner and sleep on ferry.
The train Aberdeen -> Oxford is a lot easier/quicker than Wick/Thurso -> Oxford.
Plus what you spend extra on the longer ferry route, you probably save on the shorter train route.
Thanks for this................I was thinking :
Leave Stromness early morning / Ferry to Thurso / Cycle to Wick / Train from Wick to Inverness / Catch sleeper to Crewe (arrives 0545) / Normal train from Crewe (0602) to Oxford (0814) !
How does that sound ! ! ! !
Thanks for your time

Slightly confused by through v's across.
Which ferry crossing are you referring to JOG to Burwick / Stromness to Thurso ??
Many thanks

LEJOG + the Orkneys
Hi all
Been having problems deciding which way to go JOGLE or LEJOG.
Has anyone popped over to the Orkney as I am thinking that could be the icing on the cake.
If people did how long for as I was thinking ............get to JOG Wednesday...travel across Thursday(cycle around the Island) ...Stay Thursday night and travel back to JOG Friday ????
What do people think of that ?
Many thanks for your time
Regards

ransos wrote:I turned off the A82 at Ft. Augustus and took the minor roads south of the Loch to Inverness. It was a stiff climb, but well worth it for the views and virtually traffic free too.
As mentioned, the Great Glen Way is rough in places (we went from Ft William to Clunes, on to forest tracks until near Invergarry, A82 for a short stretch then on to the tow path until Ft Augustus). I was just about ok, but had to go very slowly in places. That was 4 years ago, so it will be worse now if it hasn't been maintained
Just reviewed this and wondered what peoples view would be...........r
Rather than go on the A82 from Spean Bridge to Invergarry I could go on the Great Glen Way on the north of Loch Lochy and rejoin the A82 just south of Invergarry.
Also again rather than go on the A82 north of Loch Ness I could go on the cycle route 78 to the south of the loch all the way to Inverness.
Would appreciate people views....
Many thanks for your time regards

So confused on which way to go......
Hi all
I have posted this before but I am still really struggling on which way to go (LEJOG or JOGLE) .....my main concerns living in Oxford are:
When things get tough psychologically it will be easier for me to be heading south towards home (most of the way!)
I cycle every day and the wind always seems to be blowing north ! (things may not get tough if I am heading North with winds behind me so that wipes out concern number 1)
Transort to either LE / JOG ins not a main concern as I will hope to have time at either end.
Please help me to decide......: roll:
Many thanks for your help and time

Accommodation best way of finding
Hi all
Would appreciate people views of the best way of sourcing accommodation for a May 2011 LEJOG.
Are there any maps out there with cycle friendly accommodation (really value people’s recommendations like trip advisor)
I am worried I could spend weeks on this !
Any advice on the best way forward.
Many thanks for your time
