Conti GP4000 s2 23C and Conti GP5000 28mm. So near-as, yes.

Re: Which CR2032 Batteries?

VARTA seem to be recommended by car and security companies for key fobs.

I dreaded finding them but they are stocked by Screwfix.

rogerzilla wrote: 21 Jan 2024, 8:55pm It's a vintage frame. Ride it with 23mm tyres. You might like it. 28mm is just current fashion.
Except 28mm is faster. For example, I sold my 1994 Litespeed after finding my 1980 Witcomb was faster over mixed terrain (not simply flat) with 28mm. The Witcomb is 1.5kg heavier too.

Have you checked for any tight links in the chain?

Light, strong, cheap - pick two.

Both are decent components from respected vendors. The rest is up to you.

Re: a tad out of true? decisions....

If you smiled every time you saw the Mercian then get it repaired. If you saw it as a tool, buy the Spa etc.

I reckon that if you scrapped it you will have nagging regrets in future. I suspect that's why you are torn - its a head vs. heart decision.

Go with your hear this time. Even Horizon's accountant analysis says it's cheap to follow your heart.

Re: a tad out of true? decisions....

Looks like a characteristic 531db crash - the heavy fork blades led to the frame folding (there is a similar picture in Tony Oliver's framebuilding book).

Hopefully somebody else's insurance is paying?

Re: Southern Spain winter tour

It's worth looking at trains to get away from the difficult geography of coastal sprawl hard up against mountains. Taking the train to places like Pedrera or Puente Genil from Malaga gets you out of the tough bits into the fun stuff.

It was for this pair.

How much faster would they have been on more sensible gearing? Why is it that people aren't winning on those gears these days then?

jimlews wrote: 13 Dec 2023, 1:36pm I am a hub gear enthusiast.
But...
The big fallacy with hub gears is that they are zero maintenance.
They are not really even low maintenance.
They require regular maintenance because if grit and water get into the workings, or they are not adjusted properly, they soon fail.
Some are not even as well sealed as SA hubs of 100 years ago.

Derailleur systems are more tolerant of maladjustment and neglect.
Millions of bikes in the Netherlands would suggest otherwise.

The white stuff looks like release agent. Panaracers after a year's storage often used to look almost white.

I've done the Via Aciete from Puente Genil to Jaen. It's a really lovely ride. Write-up here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/ret ... st-3324746

I was going to do a tour from Malaga to Cordoba via Ecija this November but got flu instead.

Another product nobody asked for solving a problem nobody had.

For starters it prevents sliding backward for heavy braking or offroad downhill.

Re: Car rack for a Toyota Yaris

Have a look also at roof racks? You will get bars and a bike rack for the price of a towbar. I prefer the San Remo type racks which use the front dropouts, which als oare generally cheaper and less complicated.
