Which Canary Island ?

Plan to visit Canary Islands for some road biking, in February, but which island ? Have heard Lanzarote is too windy, Tenerife too hilly, Gran Canaria is maybe the one. Looking for a mixture of rolling hills with some hills, category 3. Any ideas.

Traffic Conditions on Route Tarbert to Oban

I cycled Claonaig, Tarbert, Lochgilphead , Kilmelford, Kilmore onwards to Oban on the A83 then A816 in 2013. I plan to take a group of cyclists next spring but have been advised that the road is now busy with traffic. Has anyone cycled it this summer, 2016, and could advise ?

Re: Touring Ireland End to End

Many thanks everyone, a lot of good reading to follow up. All comments seem positive, sometimes you can overthink a journey.
Will now continue with my research as I have itchy feet ( or wheels ) again.

Touring Ireland End to End

Hi, I am thinking of touring Ireland from 'End to End. Mizen Head to Malin Head. I have read a few blogs and they all seem to stress how busy and dangerous the narrow roads are with traffic. I am used to narrow roads being an scottish island girl and don't mind traffic but would like some imput from...

HELP: Sizes of Scott Ladies Bikes.

I plan to take 8 ladies on holiday and rent 'Scott Ladies Sporster Comfort 20 hybrid bikes'. I find the Scott sizing charts a bit confusing, does anyone have this bike or a Scott Ladies Bike. If so, could you tell me your height in cms and whether you ride a S/M/L. Thanks

Re: Seatposts, layback, and a daft idea

Thanks everyone. I contacted SJS cycles and they can supply a Saddle Adjuster or they suggested
a Thorn Lay Back seatpost. I'll study both then make my decision. Great imput from everyone.

Re: Seatposts, layback, and a daft idea

This is a year old thread which I have been reading as I have a B17 saddle that I would like to move back a bit,
I have tried to resource a VK Adaptor but it doesn't appear on their website now. Has anyone any idea
where I could buy a saddle extension/adjustor.

Re: A713 in South West Scotland

Thanks bogmyrtle for the info. I would be cycling from Ardrossan to Kirkcudbright and thought of using the A78/A77 to Ayr then picking up the A713. I'm not bothered about hills more heavy traffic. Any local info? BTW I am just returned from cycling Coast to Coast America and can thoroughly recommend...

A713 in South West Scotland

Does anyone know what the A713 is like from Dalmellinton to Castle Douglas. Road surface? Hilly? I would be heading south.

Foldable tyres or Wire Bead Tyres????

Hi, I am going on a long tour which will be on road. I have decided to buy the Schalbe Marathon Supreme tyre so I have two questions. 1) I had thought to buy 700x32 but read that Schalbe tyres come 'big' so thinking of getting 700x28. Is this information right? 2) Is there any difference ( apart fro...

Re: Tips on Closing Quick Release Lever for Weakling, please

Thanks for all the tips. Philip, thanks for that web page, a good article explaining how to open and close lever. I think I have been making it too tight. Will practice and hopefully master it. Just as a matter of interest, 3 years ago when I went to India and cycled from Kolkata to kalimpong in the...

Tips on Closing Quick Release Lever for Weakling, please

Can change punctures without any problem but when it come to closing quick release lever I struggle. Don't tell me to wind it back as that would be much too loose. Don't tell me to bulk up as that is just not going to happen. Eventually I have to ask a passing male who smugly easily closes it. I pus...
