Re: Mercian colour choice
In times like these one turn to the Mercian colour picker ! If your like me and end up even more confused, learn from the hits and misses in the Mercian Owners Flicr Group . Sill can't make your mind up? Do what this plonker did and pick 'em all! http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/7315/bbdob...

Re: Stronglight 99 dust caps
Excuse me but as mentioned the measurement for the Stronglight threads chould be 23.35 mm.
I blame it on Sheldon and Harris Cyclery.
Good new is that J.A. Stein still make one and you can get it from Velo-Orange.com!
Cheers!
edit; Lower price at biketoolsetc.com.

Re: Rohloff Killer at last?
- Is the Alfine 11sp hub a refinement of the old gear hub and has one direct gear with all others using small cogs to transfer the power up or down? The Alfine 11 isn't the Alfine 8 with three more gears added; according to Shimano, the Alfine 11 has an all new internal design, and you cannot asses...

Re: Rohloff Killer at last?
I'd like to get back to discussing the technical aspects of what I assume are two radically different type of hubs! Oh, and excuse me lack of knowledge as well as the bad English ;-) - The major sticking point with the Rohloff has always been sealing the hub and it took them quite while to get it ri...

Re: BB length Impact triple
Great piece of advice Meic! Guess I'd better save up to buy parts from Spa Cycles instead.

Re: BB length Impact triple
Has anyone bought one of the £30 Impact triples from Chain Reaction? I have and it seems to need a longer BB length than my original Impact that used a 110mm. The inner ring intereferes with the rear chainstay so I'm guessing I need at least another 5 to 8mm. Any ideas, advice or comments? Neil If ...

Re: Rohloff Killer at last?
Thanks for the link PH! Interesting stuff. I've skimmed through this thread and all I could find on google. But I've yet to find any numbers relating to the effectiveness of the hub. It seem to have different internals to the earlier gear hubs. The car park tester wrote he could not detect any diffe...

Re: E-WERK / UCA?
Interesting! The thing is that both the Zzing , PedalPower+ and Dahon BioLogic ReeCharge offer the accumulator feature. I haven't investigated what output I need to charge my camera, phone etc from a backup battery. But one tend to swap these regularly so it would be best if I could source a accumul...

Re: Stronglight A9 headset
Apparently the A9 and the better sealed Delta are out of production.
Anyone know a shop that still stock them?

Re: E-WERK / UCA?
Thanks Steve for that great piece of info! The E-Werk is high on my 'to-get-list' so hopefully before next trip. Problem is that I tend to use most of my power thirsty devices when I'm not on the bike. Any idea what type of power storage battery device to buy that I could charge from the E-Wek and u...

Re: Mudguard options
After using plasic fenders for twenty years or so I'm now totally sold on metal fenders from Berthoud and Honjo.
The stainless steel Berthoud are about the same weight as the SKS but a lot stronger and IMHO better looking!
Sold by SJS and Shedborn

Re: Decaleur
Like Tako said, it's possible to fit a Carradice saddle bag, like the Barley, Nelson or Junior , to the handlebars just like the Brand V BarBox. Or simply recycle an old shoulder or ammunition bag by adding a couple of straps to the back of it! But if it's style as well as function and improved hand...

Re: Pannier rack fitting
I may have misinterpreted what the problem is - but why would a tight fit between the rack and rear stays cause them to move inwards? The frame tubes must be very thin and flexible for this to happen and I have never seen a bike with such flexible stays. The narrow distance you measured on the rack ...
