Re: Cassette question

If you rotate your 2 or 3 chains each month, they’ll all, and the cassette need changing together. When the chains are over length. A worn chain is likely to wear the cassette faster.

Help for a Geordie girl.

A friend would like to cycle from Morpeth to New Biggin, by the sea, along the River Wansbeck. Is there a route down to the Wansbeck, as close to Morpeth as possible??
Thanks

Re: 1-1/8" headsets with split crown race?

Try eBay, Chinese supply, I bought a couple thinking they might wear out quickly but it’s still going strong on a winter bike.

Re: 1-1/8" headsets with split crown race?

The split race and sealed bearing must match in angle, otherwise they won’t marry together properly.

Try to get a second hand Cateye computer. Go on ‘forever’, wired ones should be cheap.

Re: 10 speed midrange gears using 11-32 cassette query

If you are a spinner, perhaps you can remove all sprockets below 16 and that would solve the problem. 16 to 32 or larger. Buy a cassette,BBB or Ambrosio?? Cost around £30.

Re: Frame id??

Did it originally have an old simplex front changer. Or Campagnolo GS. The guide is not for a record Campagnolo. It is too far forward.
Late 60’s
Not simplex.

Re: Old 1/8” gear mech

The twin wire moved a vee shaped system which pushed the jockey wheels along a bar, so the jockey wheel moved the chain across the sprockets.

Old 1/8” gear mech

Is there a rear gear mechanism which slides on a bar under the chainstay for a 3 cog 1/8” freewheel? Twin wire.
I guess 1940/50’s.

Re: 50/34 chainsets and the older rider

Why not buy a cassette to suit the legs. I tend to swap cassettes to give me an 80” gear, so for a 53/39 use an 18 to 27 straight through. For a 48 or 50/34 use 16 to 25. I can position the chain around the centre sprocket for steady riding on the big ring. Obviously it will depend upon the hilly na...
