Surley LHT with Roloff Hub
HAs anyone got a Surley LHT with a Roloff hub? What's it like / would you recommend the set-up? I am looking to buy a world tourer and am very tempted by the Thorn Nomad but wonder if there is a cheaper and lighter alternative. Any advice appreciated.

Re: Argentina to Alaska
Mightily impressed with your achievement; respect and well done. I am setting off this November on the same / similar route although I will be taking more time and visiting various highlights on the way. Did you use GPS/ garmin or just maps?

Re: Iceland
I suggest the golden triangle via Laugarvatn down to sydra-langholt taking in Pingvellir, Geysir and Gulfoss then go on to Hvolsvollur and Vik and then back to Rek. Pity you will miss the Glacier at Skaftafell unless you bus it.
Enjoy - and pray for good weather! Martin (did the ring road last year)

Re: Norwich to Marrakech this summer . .
Hello Helen, I completed the ride down to Marrakech in August 2010. I agree Chefchaouen is a very interesting place - blue hue most photogenic. Did you say you started in Norfolk? Have been reading about your trip; amazing. Take care and good luck!

Re: Dehydrated food
While in Morocco this Summer I was very glad I had packed dehydrated food - it was Ramadan and very little available until after sunset, and even then there was not much more than a boiled egg, soup and flatbread. I used 'travellunch'. Very adequate. Martin

Norwich to Marrakech this summer . .
I am setting off at the end of July to Marrakech solo touring. France and Spain I am relatively happy with although a tried and tested route across Spain (Pamplona to Algeciras or Gib. if a ferry exists) wouldn't go amiss. My concern is Morocco and what route to take. I am planning Tangiers, Tetouan...

Hi, thanks for your very useful advice. I am planning to cycle from the UK to Marrakesh this summer and ask if you have any other useful advice? How far south did you cycle?

Cycling Russia
Brian, beware of rip-off tour guides, you dont really need them, just do it! I ran out of tarmac just once and only for 20 miles. Not sure about trains, I have heard that you have to package your bike up and it goes seperately from you so beware. I found the local helpful but reserved. good luck Mar...

cycling in Russia
Helo Brian, I cycled solo, not with a group. Very straightforward really, got sponsored by contacting Vladimir at RCTC. $50 I seem to recall. sent my passport to Russian Embassy for the Tourist Visa. You have to register at a recognised admin. office within 3 or was 5 days of crossing the boarder, t...

Russian tour
I cycled across into Russia from Finland / Vyborg to St Petersburg and on to Moscow. Can answer any questions you may have. Beware of dogs that accompany the many mushroom pickers! Also get use to not being smiled at - it's nothing personal and the Russians I met were reserved but friendly.
