Portugal End to End

I have recently returned from a tour riding Portugal from south to north, flying Manchester to Faro and returning from Porto. From Faro I turned east along the Algarve and spent the first night in Tavira. Then I largely followed the border up through Alcoutin, Beja, and Evora. Portugal has an excell...

Re: Any such thing as an easyish N Portugal cycle camping to

Thanks everyone some great ideas and information, very helpful I just need to decide whether to go up the middle or take the east side and cut across to the border above Porto. I've taken on board the advice and am going to ditch the tent in favour of B&B's. Riding solo I'll probably take a hit ...

I'm riding a solo End to End in Portugal in September into Faro out of Porto.
I'd be interested in your route if you still have it.
Also details and your views on the accommodation would be useful
Thanks

Re: Cycling from Gargrave (nr Skipton) to Manchester

I heard that the canal paths around Todmorden Hebbden Bridge are out of action at the moment because of the floods earlier in the year so I'd check it out

Cuba: - You’ll love it or hate it

P1000820.JPG As I couldn’t persuade anyone else to go on the 18 Nov I left Manchester airport on a direct Thomas Cooke’s flight to Cayo Coco in the middle of Cuba. The eight hour flight including bike was a very reasonable £500. By 3.30 I had reassembled my bike and was on my way for a 60k ride to ...

Re: winter tour

I'm off to Cuba for 3 weeks Nov/Dec (before the Americans trash it!) You can now fly direct from Manchester £500. Good weather, safe quiet roads, and excellent accommodation in casa particulares (local B&B's)

Re: CLASSIC CYCLE TOURS

No experience of Classic Cycle Tours but have cycled a lot on the Costa Blanca and always arranged my own trips. There are a few English companies that organise trips but they are mainly "training camps" Altea and Calpe are good bases but IMO Benidorm is better. The filghts are the same, b...

Re: Cold

I suffer from cold hands & feet. It's not an extreme problem, probably just on the edge of what's normal. It does result in a lot of money spent on gloves & winter cycling shoes though. I'll probably be an early adopter of this gadget. I would be very interested in the hand warmers (and I'v...

Re: Trials of an organizer

I'm told the Dean 300 going out from Oxford to Wales had one starter this am. My ride out to Chirk tomorrow had 80 entries. Lots of DNS this afternoon, but I'm sure that despite the conditions (12 inches of snow at Chirk and temperatures, including the chill factor down to -7) that some will start! I...
