I still don't get it.

How can your finger and thumb NOT be touching?

You've either got pianist's hands or skinny wrists Mick.

Re: Cyclists v Tummy fat( Power/weight ratio implications)

You lot have made my day :) No matter how much I try and diet and no matter how fit I am, I've always got a bit of a tum (though it's a bit more than a bit at the moment  ) I look at all my paternal family and see they are/were all the same, so simply thought it was a family trait. I've been r...

Re: Boring fact

After gaining free entry for years into military establishments, for some reason just before I finished work, I had to be Positively Vetted when there was a change of use of one of them. I imagine there were a few background checks which I knew little about, but part of the "questionnaire"...

Re: Boring fact

Hi, What a pension :P I was only a lowly cable jointer for 20 years followed by a Plant Protection Officer for 19. My salary was always well under the national average and I left after almost 40 years service, but at 55 years of age, therefore having a pension reduced by 20%. There are things, like...

Boring fact

It’s 50 years to the day that I started employment with what is now BT.
Am I still bound by the Official Secrets Act?

Not that I ever heard any.

Re: Hip replacement and cycling

Au contraire, as a famous cockney would say. The day before her op, we had a visit from an Occy Health chappy, who asked various questions. When he asked who did most of the cooking, Mrs.C had to confess that she'd only cooked one meal in the last 8 days. So, I won't be going hungry, although with a...

Re: Hip replacement and cycling

Hi folks, Mrs.Copy has been waiting for a THR and has been cycling, walking swimming and yoga-ing to keep fit and strong, as per the previous posts. We've been inspired reading the messages and were hoping she'd be up and about (and on an exercise bike within a couple of weeks). She had the op 3 days...

Re: Gospel Pass

Glad you enjoyed it Trev.
There's some lovely countryside with quiet lanes and stupendous views in that area.
I'm not going to tell you my favourite bit though,
Hopefully you'll come back and do some more,

Re: Gospel Pass

Personally I'd go south to north, enjoy a nice lunch and pootle around Hay and then return via the gorgeous Golden Valley.

Re: Napoleon's Piles

I get something similar Mike. It doesn't feel like cramp, much more like a spasm.
If I straighten my fingers out it usually goes, but will come back a few times before disappearing for quite some time.
Another one of life's mysteries, I believe.

Re: DSLR Compact Camera or Phone? Belgium c50km/day

I've never toured with an SLR and wouldn't even dream of it with either of my current mirrorless compact system cameras. I've always used Lumix travel zooms and got great results. However, after having continual problems with dust getting onto the sensors, I've switched to an Olympus Tough camera. C...
