Re: E Bike - speeding?

There is nothing worse than (not) being talked about  I do not use bad language, I object to the use of the terms 'scratching eyes out' and 'hatred' Why, I do not even [try to] "tell others how to live their lives"! I have reduced my suggestion for the speed at which assistance migh...

Re: Touring on an electric bike?

Just found this on Evans website. https://www.evanscycles.com/coffeestop/news/riding-the-world-by-e-bike So touring with a trailer is already a thing. I now have serious trailer envy. This is a real Trailer - The Koga Miyata Chela http://www.thecycler.net/photos/chela_2-w600h467.jpg ..and in road m...

Re: unwelcome sight during walk on Downs

Poteen does a damn good job of getting rid of it. Excellent idea, but I fear Poteen (or more correctly, Poitín ) may be hard to come by in leafy Sussex. Although our local Waitrose stocks a wide variety of booze, I don't think they have it. A friend's uncle used to make it in a shed on his allotmen...

Re: E Bike - speeding?

Can we clarify one point for all those advocating speed limits less than the present 15.5 mph?

Are you applying these to all bikes or just e-bikes?

If not all bikes, please clarify why Person A is safe to ride a racing bike at speed, but not an e-bike?

Re: E Bike - speeding?

After all the insults and scratching each others' eyes out, the question of speed and misuse of e-bikes is a serious one. On my local Greenway the number of e-bikes is definitely on the increase and many users are not by any means elderly. The Greenway, in it's 7-mile length, passes through several...

Re: E Bike - speeding?

I already have a typewriter, diolch, actually I like writing letters by hand Could anyone suggest an alternative term to 'real bike'? I note that the Eisteddfod Cenedlaethol is in Tregaron next year, hoping to meet Cugel there, we could argue in Welsh  As so many times above, we could just dr...

Re: Why CO2?

Interesting article comparing CO2 and N for tyres interesting and not very accurate. The main gist of it is correct but the diffusion rate of CO2 through rubber is definitely not 'minutely different' from that of air or N2; it is considerably higher. cheers As always ... raised as a discussion poin...

Re: Touring on an electric bike?

The only issue is charging. If you get a bike with a detachable battery and off-bike charging, take it into your accommodation and charge. Camping can be more troublesome. we were on a camping / caravan site and there was a couple who ebikes - they were in a tent and it was their first weekend away...

Re: E Bike - speeding?

Because e-bikes are apparently not about going fast, as others claim elsewhere, I do not understand that :? .. If you want to go faster you can pedal It is a simple choice of bike type... like a folder, tourer, racer, hybrid. You choose what suits YOUR needs and style of riding E-bikes are bulky an...

Re: E Bike - speeding?

No, the maximum limit should be reduced, maybe to15 kmh Argue nicely please  What do you mean by speed limit? Is that assisted speed? Is it an overall limit? Why reduce the present speed limit for EAPC? Why on one page have you increased your undefined limit from 12 to 15? It would be interes...

Re: hate-speech graffiti

Do you never tire of the "Brexit supporters bad" approach to life ..... Read it again. Nowhere do I imply that Brexit supporters are bad. There is evidence connecting aggressive nationalism with Brexit. Different things. The issue is that Brexit DID embolden some extremists, with t...

Re: Why CO2?

Well according to Wikipedia, by volume, dry air contains 78.09% nitrogen, so surely this car tyre filled with nitrogen business is all a scam? Or maybe I am missing something? Would not be the first time :D Again ... for information as opposed to a confirmation...
