Re: Rebecca Twigg

However, I am drifting off the main thread here. What can be said to bring it back to the original is that if even with the additional support for ex-servicemen they still feature in large numbers, is it really a surprise that people like Rebecca have problems with a "normal" lifestyle. Re...

Re: Rebecca Twigg

I think that the helmet and other red herrings on this thread are missing a point in the article Twigg, 56, agreed to share her story to convince the public that not all homeless people are addicted to drugs or alcohol; that there are many like her, who have struggled with employment and are “confu...

Re: Rebecca Twigg

This is Angels Fear to Tread territory but I'll go there anyway. In Brucey's pictures Rebecca isn't wearing a helmet and the one she is wearing in the article looks more decorative than functional. An article in the New York Times got me wondering if she had had any head injuries which may have con...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

It wouldn't look good for the establishment to go in too hard against minor spending infringements in the referendum campaign when the government spent about £9 million sending out a leaflet begging us all to vote remain. Are you not aware of what happened? It wasn't a matter of minor spending infr...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

then you have a very low opinion indeed of the majority of voters whose crime was to disagree with you at the ballot box. I suppose I have to say, yes I have a very low opinion of the bigots, racists and xenophobes whose rhetoric fuels the brex**it ideology. Of course this does not include all brex...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Brexit was born out of the common sense that millions of people who were angry at being ignored, patronised and shafted by a majority of faceless elites who have never even lived here. I always laugh at these claims. Ann Widdecombe's rant the other day included Fisheries. We can recognise. that we ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I think Germany recognises that, and that it is also one of the reasons why Germany would most like the UK to stay in the EU - it has relied on the UK to exercise the sort of pragmatism and realism in EU decision making that it has often been incapable of doing for itself. That's how I understood t...

Just in case anyone didn't believe the above (tbh I didn't either)... "He also discussed U.S. accomplishments, from Alexander Graham Bell and the telephone to the Wright Brothers and the airplane." https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/07/04/independence-day-donald-trump-plans-...
