I doubt it, he seems to be arguing in favour of women (they are made to cover themselves by men).

Re: Climate change

However, it would seem a crying shame to lose especially the tropical rainforests The plants and animals in the forests are also the source of a huge number of medicines. Every new species that's discovered -- and there are thousands undiscovered -- could potentially be useful. http://environment.a...

Re: Climate change

the Chinese are the only major country this far to have acted responsibly to control population. Unfortunately, with the current social model, this cannot happen in the Capitalist West. I science fiction book I read a while back had an overpopulated Earth, and world governments unsure what to do. S...

Re: GMT/BST

Oops, thanks, got me facts wrong! I'm going to stay up late at the end of October and check that things happen correctly .......... A nightclub I sometimes go to shuts at 7.30. Last end-of-October I went there from 22.30 BST to 7.30 GMT, i.e. 10 hours. If I don't do that again this year, I'll have ...

Re: Web site/page construction - advice wanted.

Is he looking to learn HTML etc? Or, is he just asking your permission to get a Bebo page or a free blog? (i.e. is he a geek.) and check your ISP, you're likely to have free webspace. Most no longer provide it, especially cheaper ISPs. I had a website of jokes when I was 10 (1996), hosted on the sch...

Re: GMT/BST

The thing is, the clocks shouldn't have changed until 0200, going to 0300. Not midnight to 0100. Never trust anything that can think for itself .......... Actually, the hour is added at 0100. (i.e. clock says 0059 GMT, then 0200 BST). In the autumn, the hour is removed at 0200 (0159 BST, 0100 GMT)....

Full mudguards with disc brakes?

Hi On the advice of an LBS, I'd bought a plastic mudguard that fits to the down tube. There was surface water (and light mud) yesterday. The guard did block a lot of the spray, my trousers stayed mostly dry and were just splattered a bit, but spray from the front tyre was thrown in the air right in ...

Re: Redundancy

If it comes to it we would get £119 per week JSA, [...] Remember, you only get the JSA if you're looking for work (I think you have to go to the Jobcentre regularly and prove you're looking. I don't know how strict it is, but personally I couldn't cheat the system regardless of whether I could get ...

Re: Caravan Club Crap

The family holiday last summer was a trip down to near Falmouth with the caravan. It was around a 630 mile round trip. With the five of us and a return of 22mpg whilst towing, the CO2 per passenger for the 630 miles was 69.42kg. A coach journey of similar distance produces around 56kg per passenger...

Re: MPs? Helmets? They Just won't Leave it Alone

You only have to look back over the years to see what changes that have been made under health and safety building sites, safety boots, yellow vests, and hard hat truck drivers, yellow vests the list is endless, and soon it will be cycling helmets like it or not so you might as well get use to it, ...

I expect they will just produce a report to fit the conclusion they want, like any government study. The most recent government study I read was the one about drug classification. In order: - Government report said the classification of drugs including ecstasy was wrong, as they appeared to be less...

[So? A well-driven small car is less dangerous than a well-driven large car, and a badly driven small car is less dangerous than a badly driven large car. Not necessarily. "Not necessarily" has been said several times. Pointing out exceptions doesn't really help. IOW, you can't generalise...

Just because they are bigger and heavier does not neccessarly make them worse. A badly driven small car is as dangerous as a well driven large car, maybe even more so. So? A well-driven small car is less dangerous than a well-driven large car, and a badly driven small car is less dangerous than a b...

Anyone is perfectly welcome to criticise my choice of vehicle if they so wish but it is my choice and it nobody elses business but mine. If I drive in such a way as to endanger others that is different. I don't know what a 2.4 turbo diesel alpha is, so I don't know if I'm criticising you, but I con...
