Re: How low can you go? Gears.

I find it very awkward to stand and pedal when on very small gears. Plus it takes more out of you when standing then when sitting. I would try the 24T granny ring and see if that suits.

Re: Cycling Time Trials - Red Lights are now compulsory

As rear LED lights are now so cheap then it's certainly not a cost problem. The problem I see is making sure they last long enough for the longer races. 10, 25 miles easy but the 12/24 hour then some thought will have to given to battery life. My experience of TT competitors having "accidents&q...

Re: Blaupunkt BikePilot 2+

After a very quick read of the instructions - some thoughts. Battery life ? Map updating ? It does say uses Openstreetmaps ? From what I can gather it uses "GPX" files only. ? In the data sheet it does include GB. https://www.blaupunkt.com/uploads/tx_ddfproductsbp/Datasheet_BikePilot²+.pdf...

Another couple of scams.

First one came through from a friend on Facebook :- My dad just had an iPhone delivered to his house by uk mail which he hadn’t ordered. 10 mins later this guy in DPD uniform came to the door saying they made a mistake and needed the phone back. We call the police and he left. The police arrived and...

Re: What route planner?

RWGPS for me but only on the PC and used it for a few years now. Tried a few others but it suits me. Like all route planners though you have to learn how to use them. The one thing to be aware of about RWGPS, it may slightly alter the route when "dragging" the course if you haven't put a w...

Re: sweating

I wear a thick-ish top layer that lets some ventilation through plus the layers underneath. Windproofs restrict the breathabilty of under garments not allowing them to wick moisture away.

Enjoyed that. Could have done without the bitching and politics. Awesome ride though.

Re: Using ANPR to deny fuel to uninsured/untaxed vehicles

A friend went to our local Morrisons for petrol but waited a long time for the dispenser to work. After a bit of waiting he went in and asked what was wrong? Reply was that his car registration had come up as a car that had left a Liverpool petrol station without paying. This was picked up on ANPR. ...

No idea about the bike but "half links" are available which help to set chain lengths :-

Re: Shimano 9 and 10 speed compatability

This will give you a pointer to what is interchangeable :- https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Bicycles/Maintenance_and_Repair/Gear-changing_Dimensions 9 speed RD's from Road and MTB are interchangeable. 10 speed road RD's will also work but not 10 speed MTB mech's. MTB front mech's are not interchangeabl...
