Some bikes - apparently including glueman's - have vertical threaded holes in the fork crown and seatstay bridge for direct fitting of mudguards. This is a good way of maximising the often limited clearance for guards on modern frames.
Thankyou thirdcrank.
Understand now.
I have heard of this but not come across it yet.
Cheers.

Why do you need to drill the mudguards
Doesn't the front already have the bracket fitted and the rear has the bendy flap fitting?
Depending on the type some SKS come with or without flap but you pay extra.

I have used washing up liquid plastic bottle (white) and damp proof
course plastic (black) for flaps.

Me too! But it's thanks to the bargains to be had from these places that I've (at long last) discovered the delights of overshoes - which I'd thought previously only to be for poseuers!!
Depends on the colour ?

There is a screw ( "B" screw adjuster) for setting the clearance for jockey wheel to sprockets.
See:- ( about 1/2 way down.)
http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=64
It is also possible to trap the screw against the "tang" of the frame when refitting the deraileur.

Eating establishments Manchester velodrome?
Does anyone know if there are any restaurants / pubs that serve a reasonable teatime meal.
I beleive there is an ASDA but was looking for something a bit more salubrious

I f you determine the BCD of the chainrings, you can get smaller ones at Spa cycles.
http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s149p0
You also might be able to get a different cassette with larger cogs but a 6 speed is now rare. ( you would also have to consider if the rear deraileur can handle this?)

Can certainly recommend the SPD shoes.
I bought a pair 2 years ago, which I still use, and bought a spare pair last year. (haven't worn them yet).
I have other various peices of their kit but watch out for sizing.
I have had a couple of their helmets, one of which was tested last December. Did it's job!
The shorts perhaps also need to be held up to the light!
Edit = £14.99 last year.

Have a look in your local supermarket. There are generally ad' boards there with allsorts on.
Frame size = 10 inches smaller than your inside leg is a good starting point. That is with a horizontal top tube.
I would be a little wary of car boot sales as they are a source of illegal gains. (unless you can verify the sellers credentials).

A friend bought a new bike this week.
A carbon frame from Hewitts. Had it made with selected components including Campag ergo's.
He got it home and put it in the hall to show his wife and daughter.
Very pleased with it and generally admiring the workmanship.
Young daughter comes up to bike and starts vigorously prodding the little lever on the side of the ergo's
" Why doesn't the bell ring daddy?" and walks off in disgust!
