Re: Difficult tyre removal : puncture.
I use 3 tyre levers for my hard to remove tyres.
1st one under tyre bead and lock it to a spoke.
2nd one the same. 3rd one and lock to a spoke.
Remove 2nd one and this leaves tyre bead outside the rim. 2nd lever again, either outside 3rd (or 1st) and lock.
Remove 3rd to outside and so on until there is enough free bead that allows a lever to run round rest of rim.

Re: Shimergo - latest news
A Campag' 11 Ergo should work favourably with any Shimano 9 speed derailleur and 9 cassette.
(or a 10 speed "road" RD.)
C11 = 2.6 mm cable pull. .S9 = 2.5 cable pull.
A 9 speed Shimano cassette will fit in place of the 10 speed but obviously a slight retro-grade.
So try the 11 Potenza with the Shimano 105 RD and a 9 speed cassette.

Re: Replace steel fork for carbon fork on cheap bike
Yes I understand that but the OP says about shortening the "wheelbase".531colin wrote: ↑7 Aug 2024, 1:02pm The fork blades are straight on a "straight" fork.
However, offset is achieved by having the (straight) blades angle forward from the fork crown; in other words, the offset of a straight-bladed fork is likely to be not very different from the offset of a curved fork.

Re: Ridewithgps increase in cost
On free Ridewithgps I can plan and download a route to my Garmin.
I can save a route and send that to someone else for their use as well.
That's about it. Anything else and you have to pay.
Strava, again I only use the free version and that suits my needs as a record.

Re: Leather uppers parting company. Glue?
Over the years I have used superglue, Evostik and Shoe-goo. All generally worked.
The problem will probably be the plastic sole that needs to be clean and also have a rough surface to adhere too.

No there shouldn't be a gap. It sounds like there is a spacer missing or the steerer tube needs setting. ?
Any chance of some photos ?

Re: New phone help
Basically yes.SimonCelsa wrote: ↑26 Jul 2024, 6:46pmMy Moto E phone, purchased around 2014 is due for replacement very soon, it has lasted well and still functions but is terribly slow when using any 'smartphone' facility. I basically only use the phone as a phone, and send a few texts per month. Internet usage is confined to the occasional strava recording, navigation, and the odd googling session every now and then.al_yrpal wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 6:07pm I replaced my Android phone s few months ago and went for a Motorola g54 5g. Cheap, reasonable camera runs anything.

If I purchased the Moto G54 as recommended above, would it be a case of a simply swapping over the sim card from my existing phone (O2 provider) or would I need any specific technical assistance. I believe my current sim card may be a bit big?
Cheers for any advice.
I recently swapped from my G50 (as it ran slow) to my wife's old Samsung and then a few days ago I swapped to a Motorola G84. I really didn't like the Samsung but it had a newer Android (11 against 9 on my G50). The Samsung, even though it ran faster, doesn't have the things I like about Motorola. So I bought the G84 which now runs Android 14. The Motorola has features which I really like. The best of which, for me, is 2 shakes to switch the camera on. (very useful on the bike after fishing it out of the back pocket with gloves on)
The one drawback with Motorola is you only get one Android upgrade which you are then stuck with for the life of the phone.
My son in law did the swap from the G50 to Samsung but I did the swap to G84.
I just swapped the simcard over and then the phone guides you through the actions needed.
I would though recommend that you copy anything special (photos) onto a PC/Laptop first if possible. Just in case.
The G54/G84 use a "nano-sim" so you will need to check that is the same as yours. If not then ask your provider for a new compatible sim.
Some larger sim cards can be made smaller either by just pressing out or cutting.

Hope this helps.

Re: Dustcap on Freehub
From your description I presume you have the back wheel off the ground and when you operate the pedals they keep going instead of stopping instead of freewheeling.
With back wheel off the ground and If you pedal backwards does the wheel turn backwards as well ?
Possibly the grease is too thick and causing stiction ?
With back wheel on the ground will the pedals/cranks turn backwards easily ?
