Polar heart rate monitor spares.

Can anyone tell me if you can get spare o rings for the watch unit?
I know you're supposed to send the watch bit back to Polar, but mine are out of warranty so I change the batteries myself.
I'm not going to go swimming with them.

Muguard stay bracket.

Help! I've managed to break the black plastic quick release bracket on my front mudguard. The mudguard is a 26 inch sized Tortec reflector guard. I know Sks do spares. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of spare brackets, or failing that Sks front stays and brackets? Bodged on with a cable tie ...

Re: White Spirit

Ok if that was me I would have asked for ID.
I would have asked what you wanted it for.
If you'd been nervous or really cocky I would have refused the sale.
No offence! One of our supervisors looks a lot like you. If I didn't know him I'd id him too!

Re: White Spirit

It does sound a bit too vigilant. Now how did I guess it might be a youngster that refused the sale? As far as I can tell, you can buy white spirit when you are 18, providing the retailer doesn't think you are going to abuse it. The tills in the shop where I work flag up the appropriate age. You the...

Re: White Spirit

Without knowing what you look like I can't know why you were refused. The sales person should have filled in a refusal log. Did they think you were going to drink it? Did they think your licence was fake? Who knows? How old was the person selling it? May be they had just done their training and were...

Re: White Spirit

It is an offence to sell it to a person if you think they are buying for someone else. If the suspected "someone else" is under 18 the sales person can refuse the sale. It is now " think 25" as it is very hard to tell if someone is 18 or not. The shop has to keep a log of refused...

Re: Recommend an aheadset please

I have a standard headset not an integrated one.
Water ingress killed the bottom race, which rusted and seized.
I don't want another FSA one because the seals were rubbish.

Recommend an aheadset please

My aheadset has expired on my touring bike. I don't want another one of the same make ie FSA, so what would you recommend? It has to be 1 1/8 inch threadless. I'd like either a white one or a silver one, definately not black. I've seen an Onza Mongo III headset. Are these any good? I don't want to p...

I think I'm on the way out.

At work there was an embarrassing incident as my boss hadn't told me something had changed. Also, someone else is being trained for what I used to do. I have been moved to a new department for an unspecified amount of time. I think I'm about to be made redundant. I'm applying for jobs before I get t...

Re: Spokes

Aci spokes are good value. Use brass nipples as they are easier to build with.than aluminium. Good luck! Wheel building is very therapeutic too. I sometimes look at stuff on line with a view to building something else as I need to do a wheel now and again. :D Hmm what about a nice dynamo hub for the...

Re: Cycling on Pavements.

Thank you. I have the same sort of personality as my nan who had even redder hair.
She grew up near Southampton docks and was feisty, despite being only 4ft 9.

She taught me to cook. She lived to the grand old age of 96.

Re: Cycling on Pavements.

He was riding along a busy pavement zig-zagging around pedestrians. He was speeding around a corner and I didn't have time to move out of the way. If it had been a shared use path I would have expected him to be there. It doesn't excuse riding like an idiot wherever you are. It was a busy pavement i...

Re: Cycling on Pavements.

The point is he ran into me on the pavement. He shouldn't have been there. Yep I defend myself and I'm dangerous. Something to do with having red hair I believe. Michael42, next time I'll let him run me over shall I? Perhaps you'd like that? I am allowed to walk along the pavement or perhaps you thi...
