Re: OnYourBike, Birmingham

I have to add my thanks to OYB too.
I have had a couple of bikes from them, most recently a Brompton to ride across Warwicks horrible traffic. Following choosing the right M6 for the job with no pressure and knowledgable advise. Drop gearing, set up and interst free sorted and leaving the shop in under an hour.
A pleasure to do business with and to ride. Can't go back to soon though as they have the electric one on demo.

Re: The Rebrand is Essential to our Future

I have thought the re brand needed to happen for a few years, we have become the retired cycling society. It seems containing many vocal members resistant to change.
We realy need to change just stand still, let alone keep up with other cycling organisations.
I will be more than happy renewing my membership, and will continue to tour and lead tours over the coming years.

Marin muirwoods as a tourer

I have been having a look at the Marin Muirwoods 2016 as a cheap tough tourer. At £446 seems a great bargain for a 9 speed cro mo framed hydrolic disk bike, as its marketed as a city bike-tourer?

Re: Pannier recommendations

My reassuringly expensive Ortleib bike roller city's cost £51 from bike plus three years ago and have completed five tours, still as good as new.

Re: Pannier recommendations

Touring is mainly peopled by riders with Ortlieb and those who wish they had Ortlieb especially when it rains or when using the quick easy attachment method.

Re: Tyre choice for Provence camping tour

I have toured in France on the 4 season tyre suffering 4 punctures in seven days and side wall repaired by a boot. I know it's Sod's law but I have covered around 2500 mile of loaded touring on all surfaces since on 28c Marathon Supreme. I find they roll better and are genuine 28s I would never go back to the Contis.

Try your LBS, I bought last years model of Surley LHT Disk for £840. Or have a look at Edinburgh cycles steel touring models and save some money toward touring.

Cycle Breakdown Cover

This seems incredible value and includes 90days in Europe. To good to be true? Has anyone used this?

I have toured in several places including India and have found Avon Skin So Soft works better and is kinder to skin than the products with deet in.

Conversely Vitamin D suplelements around £3 come in a bit cheaper than a cure for Cancer.
