Re: Do you find it harder to take risks as you get older?

Hello, When I was young I had a spell as a motorcycle racer. When I was a little older I had a spell as a motor car racer. As I grew older I became a Driving Instructor (ADI) and qualified as an Institute of advanced motoring tutor. I was indeed pretty good at these activities. I am 68 and fast appr...

Re: For those taking medication

I am only a beginner, clearly, with just the 3 types. I have no intention of trying harder, as it were. That must be a really rubbish regime, but preferable to the alternative, of course. :? Hello, I had to see my Doctor earlier this week due to hiccups in my health. Outcome was good because an inc...

Re: For those taking medication

I'm only (only, the man says) on four types covering 3 maladies, and when I'm cycling I can leave one of them out otherwise it weaponizes my lower intestine. I was first diagnosed with one of my problems at 40! I am now 68 and alive but full of pills. My life was certainly much easier before age 40...

Re: Trangia flame: what should it look like?

Are we still having a fuel debate that centres around defensive positions? I thought everyone would be able to accept all fuel systems has advantages and disadvantages. The trick is to find out what works for you and when it doesn't work. Depending on your activities you choose the fuel system to s...

Re: For those taking medication

Heart/lung and spinal. Two at Midday and seven at night time. Im alive and still plodding on. Difficult a...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think PH makes a good point when he says that Longstaff include items like cast lugs for which you would pay extra at Mercian - a point made to me by Lance at Longstaff. In terms of riding performance I'd agree that it's difficult to tell the difference between th...

Re: Eco-friendly tent

Ossie, Many outdoors people think they're oh-so-green but much of their kit is petrochemical based, and it goes to landfill at the end of its useful life. Some manufacturers try to do better: Paramo, Golite and Big Agnes, for example. If consumers don't ask for better then they'll never get better....

Should Enoch Powell get a blue plaque ( in Wolverhamton)?

Don’t remember much about the content but I do remember what an excellent and mesmerising orator he was. Many years later I did some PR for the Billy Graham event at Villa Park and heard him speak. They both had a spellbinding way with words that engaged their whole audience. Very like Adolf Hitler...

Cysts, saddle sores

I’ve suffered and regularly suffer cysts. The pain is dreadful and virtually unbearable. I’ve even squeezed and burst them from time to time , which is not something recommended! I went to my Doctor who told me it’s just tough luck. Apparently no matter how clean one is, if you get them you get them...
