Re: ...what van?

First result on Google: http://www.whatvan.co.uk/

I'm sure I've seen van magazines in shops before, but I haven't looked recently.

Re: ...how to....?

There are places you can send them, you can buy a machine with both VHS and DVD slots, or (cheapest) you can buy a TV tuner card or USB stick for your computer, which will probably come with PVR (Personal Video Recorder, like Sky+) software, or download something free from the web, and then burn it ...

Human, or sophisticated auto-reply?

The preamble (feel free to skip to the question): In an effort to reduce clutter, I have decided to buy no more paper books. Ever since I first heard about e-ink I wanted an e-reader, but having played with Sony's effort in John Lewis is was thoroughly underwhelmed. I have been reading books on smar...

Re: A14 - THE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS THE COUNTRY CANNOT AFFORD

I already use a Megabus frequently, what's different about a super bus? Mostly I use it because it doesn't take much longer than the car (at least the way I drove - stopping for a rest every couple of hours), and is a fraction of the cost of fuel for a car, if booked in advance.

Re: The Highway Code - Updated

I'm not entirely certain who does it, some government department I think. The CTC was instrumental in rewording the bits about cycle lanes and helmets, as I recall.

Re: Not case sensitive?

I've just been chatting to a friend using an instant messenger program. I didn't even notice that I wasn't using capitals there! It seems to depend on the context, which is an interesting discovery. I always use punctuation though.

Wow, thousands of vehicles running through villagers. That must really be messy!

Re: Not case sensitive?

Even txt spk was just laziness. The first mobile phone I had which was capable of texting had predictive text. It took less time to figure out how that worked than it did to decipher other peoples txt msgs. Smart phones now make it easier in some ways than computers - mine automatically puts in a fu...

Re: Mad Cows

Have a look at this mad bull - at least that one had a reason! Although riding a weird threatening machine on the bull's territory, which as far as it knew included the road, may have been reason enough, as far as it was concerned.

Re: Not case sensitive?

I went to a comprehensive school, and yet turned out to be something of a pedant. I invite you all to pick holes in my spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

60mph! If it can go that fast, he might get caught speeding, and perhaps this police car will chase him: http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff8/richie-brian/pepopacar.jpg Of course, pedal cars are nothing new. 20 years ago, when I were but a nipper, 6 of us squeezed into one of these: http://i240.ph...

thirdcrank, perhaps you could tell us why you're not Thirdcrank? I'm not RBrian because I was lazy when signing up, but I try to keep my posts legible - as do you, if one can read legalese! ;-)

Re: Not case sensitive?

Your write, bodach! Youd fink people's could of learnt that at school.

That kind of poor spelling, punctuation, and grammar (in the front room, watchin' telly) is painful to read. Eats, shoots, and leaves should be required reading.

Re: Not case sensitive?

Perhaps some folk access the forum via a mobile phone device. I am right now, and look! Capitalisation at the start of sentences, correct spelling, even punctuation. It's all automatic, even the apostrophe, I only have to put in commas and exclamation marks. On a real computer, I'd have to press th...
