Re: Tree Scheme Slows Down Fast Drivers

Well that's all well and good until the trees start jumping out at speeding motorists, blocking their view of the corner so they couldn't know it wasn't safe to go on the wrong side of the road, and causing accidents. Isn't that why so many have been cut down?

Re: Brompton upgrades

Steve Parry, notwithstanding his modifications, is somewhat of a Luddite. He has a phone number, and sometimes he even answers, but no email or website.

Re: Nightstick problem

There are smart chargers which are supposed to be able to resurrect dead batteries, sometimes. I'm not sure if you can find one to connect to your nightstick, they mostly seem to be for cars or household batteries. Try searching for Optimate, and see what you get.

Re: Powering phones, cameras, GPS etc whilst camping

I'd not go for a 12V cell, I'd go for a 5V system - pretty much everything I'd take (except the laptop/netbook) is USB chargeable. Same here, but I wouldn't bother with the laptop, a smartphone can do just about anything I'd want to on tour. There are plenty of readymade recharging systems designed...

Re: Speeding in Oxfordshire up 88%

Chances are it'll happen sooner or later without any government intervention at all. How many people have photos including their car registration on Facebook? More than half of my friends. It won't be long before Google starts reading the text in photos, indexing it, and making it available to anyon...

If the search is working, that is! Failing that, ask a question, they're a friendly bunch, but don't forget to say you've searched first, it's bad form to ask without searching.

Re: Age is ...

My granny helped out with her church group, providing lunches for the old people. She kept doing it until she died, when she was 20 years older than some of her "old people"!

Reply telling him that letting his dog foul on the pavement is naughty (if he has a dog).

Re: What ever happened to the Gentleman?

It's not just cyclists, but anyone marginally attractive. I started a thread about it a little while ago, when the hot weather started. I still can't understand what makes a man do that - do they have no idea how they look? It can be funny when the boot's on the other foot though, or when the boot t...

Did you ever wonder why terrorists enjoy such popular support in some countries? That's why.

Blimey!

What were the circumstances? Just a random attack? What's the betting that if caught (not likely) the perp gets a slap on the wrist, rather than being charged with attempted murder.

Re: Green Oil

Yes, I use it because it's a really good oil (or synthetic lubricant) - not necessary because it claims to be green. They also do a good spray cleaner product. You can refill the cleaner with the a small bottle of their chain degreaser and water! Interesting. I use it because it claims to be green,...

I liked having a clock on the bars, and a speedo is sometimes fun to see just how fast you can go. I would have voted for option one a year ago, but then mine broke, and I never got round to replacing it. Now all I really miss is the clock.

Re: What to do if your brakes fail?

- But sir, what do we do if we step on a mine? - Well Baldrick, the usual procedure is to jump 200ft into the air and spread yourself over a wide area. Sorry, I couldn't help it. Seriously though, I did once reach 50mph on my mountain bike, on a wet, twisty road, where I was certain I would have cra...

Re: Speeding in Oxfordshire up 88%

If they've got rid of the cameras, how do they know people are speeding? And if they know people are speeding, why aren't they prosecuting?
