Re: A decent saddle.

I've got a Manta saddle, it's terrible! Hard to get on and off, not comfortable and makes it hard for me to steer the bike as the hinge means you can't shift your weight as well. Once a cycle courier chum was visiting/skiving at my work, I asked him to nip across the road to get some bacon rolls. W...

Re: Down Side To Smart Meters..Before I sign Up

Black and Decker seem to fit good batteries - never had any problems with my Dewalt stuff. Every B&D battery pack (bar one) I've had has died on me. Usually a single cell, so I pull it out and put a new one in. Once I've fixed them they're fine. I have a few B&D rechargeable gardening thing...

Re: Lake District - protect in aspic for visitors?

I heard the RAF thing. I do wonder if that was partly a clincher to save other faces, but the RAF do a lot of low-flying in the area. I've not seen them round Thirlmere as it happens, I've seen them mostly around Buttermere, but I spend less time round Thirlmere and it could be an 'escape route' eve...

Re: Closet supporter of brexit tester?

Boring explanation: It has its effect only if your eyes move. If you hold them still, it stops. It's supposed to be a stress indcator, I suspect because people's eyes to tend to jump about images if they are stressed. My Stress Indicator works like this: 'Stressed' - Flinders is ratty, snappy 'Very...

Re: Down Side To Smart Meters..Before I sign Up

I'm currently beyond annoyed by npower, who keep bullying my elderly parents about having a smart meter fitted. npower have been told again and again by phone and email that my parents have no use for one, do not want one, and that they cannot cope with the continual bullying 'we have made an appoin...

Re: Democracy?

Hi, Longer than you think. IF labour (Corbie "ThisMorning" TV now) now say they will go for r2 if they cant force a GE. (might be saying that if there a NO deal?) And their leader now says if they get into power they will go for a customs union......................and a transition period...

Re: Lancashire Day 27 November 2018

Dr who starting in 10 mins apparently set around pendle witch trials. No idea what locations they used. If not the wondrous pendle the producers sbould be hung. Or whatever they did to those unfortunate women. Oof, just saw this post, we've missed it, 'cos we don't watch Dr Who. How was it? I watch...

Re: Lancashire Day 27 November 2018

I don't watch Dr Who so I haven't seen the episode in question. A few weeks ago though, whilst on a ride in Bowland, I chanced upon a crew which I think was filming for the series. I didn't stop to investigate, but the location was close to Burrholme Bridge, just south of Dunsop Bridge. Anyone who ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I'm not saying a General Election is the preferred option for either Labour or the Tories, I'm saying it's an inevitable event given the 'end times Brexit scenario' we're in. There's so much piling on, all at once that no administration could survive it. Leastwise the propped up, beggaring belief, ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Bov I don't think anyone thinks it's Londoners in total that are the problem. When I think London equals problems,I think centerist politics and financial sectors(which are interlinked),not Londoners as in ordinary people, though small minded people will equate London to Eastenders(the TV program).S...

Re: Sustrans Report "UK Cycle Network is unsafe for children"

Not much round here. Some bits that are off-road are on towpaths. And you should see the state of those hereabouts. In general, I find them pointless. For example, if you can't find out whether the surface is suitable for your type of bike, they are about as much use as a chocolate teapot, unless yo...

Re: Aldi/Crane Sports Stocking of larger sizes

Just as bad they dont do small sizes, the medium which is the default smallest size they do comes out closer to a standard large . That's the thing about cheap- cheap usually means stocking only the sizes that sell in large quantities. I found Aldi's smallest leggings far too big for me- even alter...
