Why not grease but leave the oil hole for careful owners?
Why didn't they grease the hubs as protection against careless owners but leave the oil hole for more careful owners?
A to B say they oil their SA hubs via the indicator chain hole (would be a nusiance on the 5 speed: the adjustment is vague: the red/blue adjustment mark suffers from parallax, and the Guide roller assembly is rubbish: it is not self aligning like the old axle nut on 3 speeds: I noticed that Pashley use a 3 speed axle nut on their 5 speeds: they just polish it alot on the concave curved bit the indicator chain goes around.

Private Members Bill to Delete Pedal Reflector Requirement?
As the DoT don't expect the police to enfore the pedal reflectors law, why cant the CTC get an MP to put a private members Bill to delete the requirement thus avoiding having a law that is not supposed to be enforced?

I still think 30 is too low for a blanket limit:
Driving at 30 feels slow even though your brain tells you it is quite fast in terI still think 30 is too low for a blanket limit:
Driving at 30 feels slow even though your brain tells you it is quite fast in terms of metres/second and stopping etc: hence, for a default limit, forcing this rather than 40mph on roads that could be 40 seems a bad idea.
Unless, of course, you have too default limits, for example, simply dependant on road width.
(When I drove, I always obeyed 30 mph limits in a car but they are not pleasant driving, although some of this is due to people behind wanting you to break it)
However, a 40mph default limit for when no streetlamps but no speed limit signstill sends the message that one should be cautious on country lanes, and when people brake a bit from 40ms of metres/second and stopping etc: hence, for a default limit, forcing this rather than 40mph on roads that could be 40 seems a bad idea.

Efficiency of Cogs replacing chain
As shaft drive is inefficient, I wondered how efficient an odd number of cos all the way from cranks to rear axle would be?

B&M dynamo powered battery charger
B&M (http://www.bumm.de/index-e.html) have a dynamo powered battery charger called Ride and Charge, for the Ixon (4 AA cells), but possibly a 4AA battey pack could be used on its own.

B&M Flatlight K~ compliant
I noticed the B&M Flatlight and looked it up on the B&M website:
The instructions dont mention it being K~ compliant ,
similarly for the stylised DToplight XS.
Is this an oversight or are B&M joining in other manufacturers lack of interest?
