Re: sierras de gredos or flat lands to the south of madrid
I incorporated some of HD's route through the Sierra de Gredos into one of my trips...it was amazing and I could highly recommend it. I approached from the south having stayed in Guadalupe then Oropesa. Approaching the Sierra de Gredos from the flat lands made them even more impressive and one of my...

Marseilles to Torino
Can anyone help suggest a route from Marseilles to Torino(Turin). This will be for a fairly large group of varying abilities at the height of the tourist season so one that avoids worst traffic and steepest climbs if possible.

Re: Pannier/luggae bag
I bought a holdall off ebay for £9.99, it held both panniers with plenty of space and then folded down and zipped up into the size of a purse. It worked really well.

Re: Malaga to Bilbao via the empty bit in the middle.
I rode from Malaga to Bilbao last September and it was amazing. My route took me via Antequerra, Cordoba and into the Sierra Morena, Guadalupe then Sierra Gredos keeping west of Madrid via Avila, Segovia and then north through the Sierra de la Demanda.I mainly stuck to quiet roads and small villages...

Re: Cycling out of Malaga airport in evening
It was actually extremely easy to cycle from the airport to the Holiday Express. After cycling away from the arrivals hall as described in comments I took the service road at the roundabout This runs alongside the road that heads to the dual carriageway. As it curves round to the left leave the serv...

Re: surly/hewitt/other? - your experiences
I am just a day away from completing a tour across Spain on my Hewitt Cheviot 26" and can highly recommend it. I have ridden on and off road and tackled some quite significant climbs. I am well pleased with it.

Re: Airline carry-on baggage
I regularly travel with my pedals and seat post/saddle in my hand luggage and have not had a problem with either. I've used most UK major airports and Spanish ones. Initially my bag was checked but staff were fine once they knew the suspiscious objects were pedals so now I just take them out and lay...

Re: Cycling out of Malaga airport in evening
I phoned the HE to ask about bike storage(they said it was OK to keep them in the room) and at the same time they mentioned the airport bus. More or less the same info as given by previous poster although they gave me Terminal 3 A19 as number, 3 stops and runs until midnight. I'm not going until Sep...

Re: Cycling out of Malaga airport in evening
Thanks, all noted. The place I was planning on in Churriana ia closed so looks like I'll have to settle for the Holiday Express which is a little closer though more expensive and in the opposite direction.

Cycling out of Malaga airport in evening
Does anyone have any experience of cycling away from the airport after dark. my flight arrives late evening and I just need to make the short journey to Churriana but realise it does involve the use of a dual carriageway. I have good lights and was thinking there might actually be less traffic aroun...

Re: Trans Spain
Hi again and thanks to all replies. Flights booked now so I'm committed. Good advice Harry D, I'll be travelling light and relying on finding accommodation en-route...maybe one or two concerns about finding somewhere in what looks like a remote part of the route NW of Cordoba but I'm hoping that by ...

Re: Trans Spain
I have 17days available to do this trip and have opted for the route from Malaga via Cordoba and to the west of Madrid as per Harry D's suggestion then linking up with the updated Cicerone route north of Madrid to Bilbao. I am aware that I'm going to be up against some fairly mountainous terrain and...

Accommodation near Malaga Airport
Does anyone have any recommendations of accommodation near Malaga Airport? My flight arrives late evening and I'm intending an early start the following day in the direction of Alora.
