Re:CTC and the Camping Card International

MLJ

I appreciate your thougts with regards to administration, and to be fair, I'm unsure as to why the Camping and Caravanning Club is still authorised to issue.

As for the ID side of things and the submission of passports, I can only go on the feed back I've had from 100's of CCI holders over the years. This also includes my own personal experiences.

You may have experienced the immediate return of your passport in past times. However I assure you from the 100's of holders I've had dealings with, and many of those on an annual basis, this is certainly not the case. Perhaps this partially depends upon the country that you are using the CCI in...

On a seperate note, and I'd appreciate anyone being able to offer clarrification on this...but there has in the last year reports of a comparable card to the CCI being introduced... Now if you, or anyone reading this can assist, or at least varyify such a card. I, or that is CTC, would be very appreciative of any information.

Andy

Andy, it seems strange to me that the CTC is barred from providing the CCI because of the 3rd party cover, yet the Camping and Caravanning Club is not!!

The Continental campsite managers will usually ask for a passport and immediately return it, especially if paying for one night - the next day this can be extended in most cases without producing the passport again!

The C&CC at £30 membership is very expensive for 'backpackers', who will NOT save this in their first 7 nights camping as claimed! The members' saving on backpacker rate is about £1.20 per night.
