Re: FUBi: second attempt at crowd-funding a foldable

... is best achieved by keeping the main triangle in the frame intact; The Rudge (Montague) BiFrame is like this, and so are others such as any Rinko package or bikes such as Rob English's suitcase bike design. In fact Rob English's suitcase bike design ought to be one of the best; provided the BB shell ...

Re: FUBi: second attempt at crowd-funding a foldable

... and about as much of a worry as the oddball Dahon RDs are. vs (say) a Rudge (Montague) biframe, the FUBi should fold into a slimmer (or ultimately smaller) package, but uses many more 'special parts'. The viability of practical stuff like mudguards, carriers, lights etc remains to be seen. Plenty of ...

Re: montaguebikes frames double tube vs large single

https://www.montaguebikes.com/folding-bikes/ 1. I noticed that the montague folders which seem the close modern analogue of the Brucey's favoured Rudge folder, now have aluminium alloy frames ( but steel forks) but the 700c ones have a double tube top tube whereas the 559/26in ones have a single ...

Re: Small(er) wheeled bikes - non folding!

... idea which has just come rounds again. FWIW my 'travel bike' is an old Rudge (Montague) BiFrame. It uses 559 wheels. With ~32mm tyres fitted the wheels are actually ~24-1/2" overall diameter; somewhere between a 20" wheel and a 27" wheel. It is something of a halfway house in terms of the way it ...

Re: German wants to reserve bikespace

... you don't have to spend £1000; for example my folding bike is a Rudge (Montague) BiFrame and it cost me a small fraction of that. Better yet, apart from the frameset, most of the parts that make it go are common-or-garden parts which appear on any number of older 26" wheel MTBs etc, i.e. they ...

at one point the BiFrame bikes were marketed as 'Montague' branded, presumably either before Raleigh (Rudge) and Schwinn branded bikes were produced, or after. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=190362 Montague M1000 http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=190361 https ...

Re: Rudge 'Bi-Frame' -a 'Proper' Folding Bike....?

... take it at face value but for one thing; unlike other similar-ish Montague/Rudge 'concentrus' type machines, the 'Olympic MTB' does not have nesting double seat tubes, and the single seat tube is part of the rear triangle, not the front part of the frame. This means that either a) the 'olympic ...

Re: Grease nipple on Rudge Montague folder

is the old one blocked? Even if the grease nipple is in good condition you will need a proper high pressure grease gun to force grease into that fitting.
