Re: The next Labour Leader
The paucity of prospective Labour leaders being mentioned on this thread convinces me that Labour have a bleak future.

Re: Cleats shoes pedals where to start ?
After many years of using Look pedals and shoes I converted to Shimano 'road touring' pedals and shoes 12 years ago - best of both worlds really as you avoid the 'duck' walk but they still feel racy and secure including when sprinting. My go to pedal is Shimano's single-sided PD-A600 - very light at 292g for a pair. Shimano 'road touring' shoes are also very good but they should have kept the three-strap RT-82 in production (or I should have stashed 2 or 3 pairs) as my 12-year old pair are still in regular use though a bit tatty looking. I've recently tried the two-strap RT-33 and they're OK as a back-up when my other shoes are still wet from yesterday's commute but not as comfy and secure.
To echo an observation upthread I go +2 on shoe size (44 instead of 42). Crazy really.

With all the excitement of last week's GE I've only just caught up with the news that Mike Gapes, Chris Leslie, Anna Soubry and Chuka Umunna all lost their seats. Brilliant!

Funny that, because everytime I mentioned that I just couldn't vote for Jeremy Corbyn some smart ar5e would helpfully point out that I couldn't vote for him anyway because I don't live in Islington North so, no, the majority didn't vote for him because they don't live in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

I think you’ll find that was Labour, under Gordon Brown.
That was my understanding too.

When our head office was in Alfreton (Derbyshire) I'd often hear that charming welcome.
I've heard of 'mashing the tea' but never in my home area of South Wales or where my other family members are from (Middlesbrough & Bristol).

It would be good to get cross-party agreement on allowing the number of HoL members to slowly reduce down by not having new ones...

Totally agree.
Comments like, "The next leader must be a woman" and "The next leader must come from the north" (I think they mean the north of England ) are really not addressing the issue - unless, of course, the stand out candidate is a woman from the north. I wasn't that impressed by Rebecca Long-Bailey during the GE and especially her defending Labour's 'average family' saving of £6,700 per year (estimated to be between 0.1% and 0.01% of the average families in the UK).
I'll admit I'm only basing this on his recent TV appearances but I hope Clive Lewis throws his hat in the ring.

Re: No more unelected peers: Scrap and replace the House of Lords now!
I studied British Constitution whilst at school and came away with the idea that it's a good thing in so much that it's independent from the HoC but actually compliments it whilst also checking/challenging the Government of the day. I still think that's a good idea but would agree that the cost needs reigning in.

Matt Hancock is convinced that by stopping nurses leaving he can INCREASE their numbers by 50000. Needing to recruit many less than 50000.
There is some logic to his statement but I think that he has overlooked that post Brexit and given the re-emerging intolerant UK climate, a fair few more existing nurses will choose to leave the UK.
So he may need 50000 new one's after all.
It's a solid promise
I saw Boris had said it.
Shouldn't this be in the GE thread?

Are there any surveys to back that up, ideally split by voting preference, or is this just more utter twaddle made up to try to keep the BBC pro-leave and pro-Tory?
I heard it on Radio 4.
