Cheers PP, I'm sure it'll be fine! I just can't think of anything else!
I think I'll have to spend the next three weeks doing the final touches and polishing my beach buggy ready for when I get back...
I won't be cycling anywhere for a couple of weeks after this ... I made a promised to myself.

When will the worry pass?
In a week?
When I leave the house?
When I get to John O'Groats?
Please don't tell me "At Land's End"
Breath, aaaaaaaaand relax

Re: JOGLE June/July 2011
3 weeks tomorrow I'll be travelling to Edinburgh. On the Saturday I'll be heading from Edinburgh to John O'Groats and on the Sunday I start the ride.... 965 Miles all the way down to Land’s End.
With the promise of more corporate sponsorship, my total's close to £9,200... I'm getting close to my £10,000 target...
I'm really feeling the worry now!!! Normal course of events I know, but even though I expected it, it's a horrible feeling.
Anyway, with the worry comes the doubt. Please check my route one more time to make sure I've not REALLY cocked up.
Thanks in advance... I'm starting to feel sick just thinking of it

Because it was full of youths
I'm not sure, but I don't think the age of the driver would have made the engine sound any more scary
Does it matter that it was full of youths?

Well well Jonty,
Considering you're supposed to be someone with a disinterest and apathy towards "who's doing what in celeb world" (see viewtopic.php?f=15&t=51432&p=427508#p427508) you are well informed!!!
Are you reading Hello Magazine at the doctors or what?

Re: JOGLE 2nd July 2011
I leave on the Sunday before you. My trainings going so bad that you'll probably catch me up!!!
Not long now is it??? My nerves are shot at the thought of it
I'm going via Lizzard Point (http://5blokes-end2end.weebly.com/the-route.html day 13 link)...
I figured that if I was going to cycle 900 miles anyway then I may as well cycle 950 miles just to say I'd done top and bottom as well as JOG and LE but each to their own.

I'm a fan of all sport to be honest, my wife says I'd watch tiddly-winks if it was on sky sports... Mind you, VERY technical game

The thing that really makes me laugh is the general thought on this thread, of the "Tribal Football Fan" being an oaf whilst spouting how much better us cyclists are than them football fans.
Sounds very tribal to me!!!

Re: JOGLE June/July 2011
I'm bumping this just in case someone spots a glaring error!
As I said in my OP, daily destinations are set as accommodation’s booked, but I'll change the daily route if you say that I'm going down a farm lane (we are on road bikes) or crossing a motorway etc.
I've lived with this for just under a year so I'm blinded by it now!!!
Thanks in advance,
Nathan

Now I wouldn't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but you do realise the sleeper from Inverness doesn't stop at Penzance?
Apart from that minor point, minimal planning is the way to go, enjoy yourself.
I'd start planning if I were you Malkythomson!!!!

bealer wrote:Maps - you can get OpenStreetMaps from the below link. You want the "img" version of the maps (they supply multiple formats). It has the whole UK map.

Just copy and paste via Windows Explorer.
I currently run a 705 with "gmapbmap" but I'm wondering if it's worth changing the map to OpenStreetMap... Is it worth it??? I'm mainly a roadie but often enjoy a bit of trail riding with a couple of mates.
Do you just drop it next to the gmapbmap file so they act as layers? Or do you delete this other file out? I thought I was okay with computers but I'd hate to kill the thing!

+1Mick F wrote:I can't help specifically, but we have a tow-bar mounted rack.
Perfect and easy to use, with the advantage of being able to go on any subsequent cars we may own as we will always want a tow-bar on any car.
Have you thought of one?
Here's the one we bought:
http://www.leisureshack.co.uk/thule-950 ... rrier.aspx
Although I have the 3 bike version "Thule RideOn 9503 Cycle Carrier".
The added bonus for me is that it also fits in the boot when I'm off riding the trails or routes that I've driven to.
It's not that expensive to get a towing hitch retro-fitted to most cars and it's better than removing the bick and getting mud and oil everywhere.
