You don't.
You control,to some extent, that particular strain with a vaccination or you let it run it's course until the surviving population build a natural immunity.

Re: TORX SECURITY FASTNERS

Why would Shimano use a security Torx and and not a standard Torx on that particular bolt
I've never come across one on any bicycle part.Is this a new thing?

I would have to agree with this.
Although no road user wants to hit another there is inevitably a hierarchy in the perceived danger of various objects.

Pedestrian, cyclist, small animal etc would all be low on the danger scale as there is very little chance of the driver being injured whether the object is hit a 30,50 or 100mph.Why would any driver be frightened to hit any of these?

Cattle, car, van etc would mean more chance of injury to the driver but I would still say that frightened is not a word I would associate with the risk of collision either.

Tree, wall,Bus,Lorry,HGV etc has a greater chance of injury to the motorist, hit an HGV head on at 60mph and it is likely that death would result so if anything would be frightening it would be one of these.

In short whether we admit it or not most of us would rather hit a pedestrian then a lorry and most of us would say we were frightened to hit a lorry but not a pedestrian.
The consequences of hitting another person is an entirely different matter.

It would be interesting to post the question of fright v object on a motoring forum.I would suspect a very different outcome.

Re: Volvo SUV ad and bad driving

A quick look out of my front window and nearly every drive with a car(or 2) on it has the front end of the car facing the Garage ie driven on.I’ve never really thought about it as I reverse on and into parking spaces but looking about I’d say 90% of drivers drive on!Most drives on this estate are not obscured.

Do people really take TV ads so seriously!?

I have never been to Benidorm or Skegness.
From what I've heard they're quite similar

Re: Card Payment only, No Cash

I use mainly debit card/contact-less now.My banking app notifies me instantly when I've made a purchase.I get a notification on my phone and smart watch. It notifies me about Paypal transactions too. It's also easier to just take a card when out on the bike.
I can't see much of a future for cash but I do think that one should have the choice.Sadly that choice is being taken away under the cover of the pandemic :x

Presumably they are both driven off the same sensor?

Normally, yes, but on mine the digital's calibration can be adjusted.

What does the digital show when the analogue is a smidge less than half an mph over, FerociousDog?

I haven't checked,it's easier when the analogue needle is on a marked number.
I know this though when both are reading 30mph and I drive through a speed flasher it generally says 28mph with a smile.

There's not a lot of ambiguity in the Highway Code:

Ah but is that 40.0000000 (so a digital speedometer should never show 40 because that could be up to 0.5mph higher), or 40 to the nearest whole mph (so it could show 40)?

Probably too scared to go in a cemetery in the dark?
Police these days generally need 4 cars,2 vans and an armed response unit for even the most mundane tasks

As I said, there are many of these speed indicating devices in towns with a 50Km/h limit. They flash red (sometimes with an 'angry face' emoticon) if they are indicating 50 or over. They light up green (with a smiley emoticon), if indicating 49 or under.

The inference, I suppose, is that driving at exactly the limit is wrong, you should be just below the limit. Not that I think this detail is all that significant....

Look at the signs... technically the red circle forbids something, so a 30 in there forbids driving at 30mph.... qed, 29 is the max allowable.

No a red circle is giving an order.Ie 40 means the maximum speed so you can do up to and including 40.Following your logic this would have an entirely different meaning!?
