Re: Problem installing a motorised front wheel

I 've carried out quite few conversions.
1st bike was a powerful BPM bafang front hub, it was ok but the torque made the ride feel a bit hectic at times.
2nd one was a BBS01 again ok but the unreliable controllers meant two not lasting to long and after nearly 3k mile sof use I threw it in the spares bin.
After that I converted several bikes with three rear wheel kits which proved much more reliable and pretty fautless.

I now use a front wheel lightweight bafang 1.6kg hub in a Cotic Roadrat frame with Surly DT forks, tbh the best hub I have used so far and it pulls a 100kg trailer without complaining and a LT cargo bike with a 250w 48v tong tsdz2. This I have used OSF programming software and it again feels far better then the BBS01,I also tow a the trailer with it.

For a my lightweight bike I use a 10.2kg gravel bike with a friction drive kit.

One can buy the 250w 48v tsdz2 from Risunuk warehouse in the UK, my one arrived within 48hrs.

With front hubs for self build one usually has to deal with China component vendors/stores to acquire the best hubs and build your own wheels. Kits are ok but one can only get the hub motor the vendor can generically get hold of or specify's.

A group of agile walkers are needed to stomp over it from front to back as the way is blocked.

Re: Parking - Why?

Quite simply the car is driven by a moron.
It is far past the time now that any car now should have a £200 or even a £250 FPN applied to the car for any pavement parking. If a street isn't suitable to park in the road then they should be made to park else where even if it means a long walk to do so.

Re: Yet another "what e-bike?" topic

For carrying two persons inc the rider , then a cargo bike will be the obvious choice.
There are three types to consider.
1. A longtail , extended rear load area.
2. A longjohn, extended front area.
3. A trike, with two front wheels and a box.

Optionally one could consider towing a tagalong or a kiddie trailer.

Re: Other forums, which ones?

Pedelecs forum has no moderaters, almost can get away with murder.
The only thing I have reported to the site owners in the main has been obscene language which isn't necessary , one particular poster from jockland was vociferous against 3 or 4 posters and eventually was banned.

Re: E Bike Controllers - Very Different, Some Hazardous.

The first two bikes esp the one with the shengyi hub will likely have a Lishui current control controller which are far better in use.
Each PAS level giving a % of it 's power up to 100% in the highest PAS level, speed wise they give the max 15.5mph speed limit in all PAS levels if one pedals enough.

Yes as you have seen with the last two bikes, they use the crappy speed control controllers. These give max current/ power in every PAS level, each level having a max speed limit. They give disproportional high power at all speeds and this catch's some riders out esp at low speed with lack of control. Woosh before you know it that gentle push in the back becomes an instant hard shove in the back pushing you along before you catch your breath.

Woosh bikes program their Lishui controllers for something like 30/50/70/80 & 100% of power thru the five PAS levels.
My KT controllers are factory programmed and are 13/20/33/50 & 100% power thru the five PAS levels.

With my KT controllers the PAS activates with a 1/8th - 1/4 pedal rotation.

Re: Lime hire bike parking fines

Sounds like they are scamming users for the sake of using the bikes, scamming the fines simply ads up to more profits for them. If one can afford a few quid for a fine each time then carry on using them, personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole no matter how convienient.

Re: Good relatively light cable lock?

Although locks don't stand up for more then 2 - 3 mins of cutting it may be better to use two or three different locks, though this means carrying extra weight around.

Re: Where to store cycle?

Because of the situation you are in , I would also agree that a folding bike (for now) may be the best option. One could keep it in the bedroom and stand it on and old piece of carpet or a piece of polythene to prevent carpet damage.
I guess it all boils down to the type of riding one does and the usage.

Re: Battery pack obsolescence.

Put the battery on charge just for 10 mins every 3 - 4 weeks, storeage voltage a max 39v for a 36v battery.
