As far as I know that's the way it's always been.

Re: Cinder tracks around north Northampton

Pretty much as Tigerbiten has already said, firm but a little slippy in places. I've seen road and mountain bikers use it happily. Enjoy!

Re: Cinder tracks around north Northampton

It's a good run between Northampton and Market Harborough. Make sure you have decent lights for the tunnels, some areas of the surface in them can be a bit rough at times!

Re: Cinder tracks around north Northampton

You'll be ideally located for the Brampton Valley Way https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/rou ... valley-way .
Not much elevation on the BVW as such as it's an old railway line, but there is plenty if you divert off it along the country roads that disect it. Many of them are quiet and free from "mental speeding drivers" :D

Re: brake pad installation - kool stop cross pad

The closed ends MUST be at the front otherwise the inserts can slide out of the holders under braking.

One of my pics from last night.
The moon did prove to be a problem, but with a clear sky there were a few dozen good ones to be seen :)

You'll need a derailleur that is braze on mount not a clamp one.

Re: Best Bike Ride 2016

Mine was a few days tour around the wonderful Wiltshire countryside. The mid June weather was pretty atrocious and involved a cat and mouse chase to avoid the heavy rain showers - I was forced to wait out the heaviest at various pubs ;-)

It's already been moved Rob, you've replied to the shadow topic which was left in place so the OP could find it :)
