Re: Hatred, stupidity or both?

There is something suspicious going on with this, someone appears to be funding her solicitor and media campaign.

So far she has appeared on ITV and BBC Tv programmes and BBC Norfolk, on all occasions her solicitor who has been at her side has been interviewed as well.

Then last night Anglia news interviewed the cyclist who basically sang her praises and the praises of firm she worked for as well.

I can't work out what is going on, but this does seem odd to say the least.

Re: Hatred, stupidity or both?

Would be nice to have a critical mass outside the local police station who are investigating this so they are not tempted to brush this under the carpet.

After all the head of a local accountancy firm, local solicitor and local police chief I would suspect are all likely to be members of a certain secret society.

With that budget i'd be tempted to look at a milk bike www.milkbikes.com

They specialise in ultra low maintainance bikes.

Mainly flat, except for the potholes! Don't know of any forests you cycle through!
There's a more scenic part from Beckingham st. that goes through Tiptree then Birch / Layer De La Haye / Peldon.
i'd check the opening times of the oyster shed as it has some strange times!
There's a cafe at the Tiptree jam Factory, or there's one in town at Mersea on the corner just before the sea, opposite the church.
I could possibly ride it with my Garmin and send the course to you?.

Happy trails, John

I live in Chelmsford - and have done exactly this Route, as part of a ride upto Woodbridge via coastal route and small ferries. If you don't fancy re-covering miles check with the Mersea Island Ferry for a short trip to Brighlingsea and you can ride to Clacton or Arlesford for the train.

Re: Best small car to put bikes inside?

Another vote for the Honda Jazz

With the seats down it is like a Tardis. The magic seats make things a bit easier as well.

Also to note we have had ours since 2005 and the only thing we have had go wrong * touch wood * was a flat battery.

Brilliant car.

Falco Cycle Storage Racks

The double deck cycle storage racks are intended to be installed at my local railway station.

Does anyone have experiance of using them ? - Are they any good, I am concerned that the rings to lock them to do not appear to be very good and particularly on the lower rack are too low and lend themselves to the lock being broken by hammering it.

Many thanks

Alex.

I came here to post the same thing. I feel sick reading this.

Struck a cyclist with a taxi and drove 90 metres with him on the bonnet, colliding with street furniture and a tree, killing him.

Charged with careless driving and given 3 points and a £35 fine. In this sad litany of lenient setences, that is the most disgustingly inappropriate yet.

If the CTC or anyone else including the family want to pursue a private prosecution - i'll put some cash in, I am absolutely disgusted by this.

Re: A childs bike with hub gears ?

After some debate we are going to go for a Claud Butler Origin, the price is pretty good at £130 ( from our LBS ) and It has enough street cred for him to be happy with it for the next few years.

Re: A childs bike with hub gears ?

Thanks for the swift replies, unfortunately I don't think a folder will cope with the abuse my 6 year old is going to give it, my plan is to buy a small BMX frame and add the parts I need. I think I may have an old 3 speed SA hub in the Garage as well.

I may need someone to assist in brazing on some parts for the hub gears, but I am sure that can be achieved.

A childs bike with hub gears ?

All,

My 6 year old is shortly to celebrate his 6th Birthday and needs a new bike if he is going to keep up with me, the offering appears to be quite poor either Heavy BSO's, BMX's or the excellent Isla Bikes which however dont have hub gears , I am looking for a bike with 16inch wheels and hub gears ( a 3 / 5 speed SA would do ). Is there anything out there ?

I remember the Ralighs's of my youth had gears, where are todays equivalents ?

Best regards

Alex.

Swap Chain Guard for Chain Case

Hi All,

Not that technical, but winter is upon us and having just cleaned the muck off of my chain I am keen not to have to do it again for a while.

I have a 3 speed bike that I use for errands and trips to the station, it currently has a chain guard, I want to replace it with a full chain case, but cannot seem to find one online anywhere, is there anything out there anymore ?

If you are touring - try to get something with AA batteries, means you can continue taking photo's if you can't get access to a plug socket.
