It's not fraud either, just someone exploiting the ebay terms. Ebay could change their business model and stop people doing this, but they don't, presumably they think it makes them more money.Bonefishblues wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 7:42am
Not sure I saw anyone on thread saying theft. Fraud is the more relevant offence.

Our gigaset phone (2 handsets + base) does that, never need to look at the base unit. All 3 units need to be plugged into a socket though.

Re: Importance of gearing with a cadence PAS
My experience is the opposite. I went from triple chainrings to single with 8 speed cassette, and I don't miss the lost gears at all. In fact when my rear derailleur was playing up and I lost the bottom 3 gears, I could still get up all the local hills easily. So I find 6 speeds or less is plenty.

Re: Is 250w enough power for modest speed up steep hills
I disagree, ebikes are not just for those with health/fitness issues, and they are indeed a new form of transport. A lot of people are using them for commuting, because for example they aren't sweaty, but still getting some exercise - it just gives people another option.

Re: 10 spd back to 9
Surely the simple option would have been to buy the correct 10 speed flat bar road shifters. If you are using cable brakes, then you'd want road brake levers too?

Re: Yet another Alfine 11spd query
I would start with the shimano installation instructions, as it sounds like something was put back wrongly when the wheel was removed.

Perhaps the top/bottom jockey wheels have been swapped around accidentally?

Re: Bike to do everything on the road
I would sell the Galaxy, keep the Thorn for touring etc, and buy a lighter faster bike for club rides, maybe an audax bike or endurance style. You can do quicker club rides on a tourer, but you'll always be working harder than the people on lightweight bikes. My choice for those rides was a genesis equilibrium with a triple chainset. Good wide range of gears, but noticeably easier up hills, and generally more fun on club rides. I've even toured on it .

The cage length determines the capacity of the mech. I don't think it affects chain length.

If you already have the kit, it might be worth trying them anyway. I have a similar setup, which isn't ideal, but does work.
<edit> my bad, my setup is the opposite way round with nsslr levers.

Re: E-bikes cut up bridle paths
Nonsense, it's almost like you know nothing about ebikes and have never ridden one. Probably the only significant difference between assisted and unassisted bikes is that you can ride where you would be walking. You seem to be confusing ebikes and motorcycles.Carlton green wrote: ↑9 Feb 2022, 9:41am
That’s my belief too, the driving wheel can be spinning away and putting traction in in a way that cuts into some surfaces.

Yes, I understand electricity is widely available in many parts of Scotland these days.sandyrainyb wrote: ↑6 Feb 2022, 1:27pm ????
I am resident in Scotland and I am frequently able to spot plenty of 3 pin sockets that would be suitable for charging an ebike. Might require a long lunch but that would be the case wherever you were

If you can find compatible flat-bar Road shifters and levers, that would probably be cheapest and easiest?

Re: Tongsheng TSDZ2
I could be wrong, but I thought the 250w motor was a special order for Whoosh, so if they aren't selling it, I'm not sure who is. Most online sellers offer 350,500,750w versions. The actual motor unit is identical for all 48v versions, just different firmware I think. I don't use anything like full power, so I doubt the real world performance will be much different with a 250w rated motor.

Re: Tongsheng TSDZ2
In my experience the range of gearing needed is a lot less with the motor fitted. I converted my tourer with 28 38 48 rings and I get on fine with the standard chainring. I have 11-32 on the back and I can get up 1:6 hills no problem, even recently when I couldn't use my bottom 2 gears due to knackered derailleur. Mine is the 500w version though. The 48v version is supposed to perform better vs the 36v. I'm not sure about availability of the 250w version if whoosh isn't selling them anymore. I get about 60 miles range I think on average mostly on level 2 assist, turbo mode up hills, although that's a bit of a guess as I never run the battery down(17.5Ah) I mostly do 10-20 mile rides, and the battery often shows as full for a couple of rides. I would probably have been fine with a 12Ah battery tbh.
