Re: 1944 PCC club dinner
Looks as though the entrance porch is still the same.
Just Googled the accommodation at Beck Hall. I think it's changed a bit in 76 years

...and yet another front light question
I know this subject has been done almost to death, but I'd still appreciate any advice.
I'm a long-term dynamo user, but I'm looking for a cheapish rechargeable front light for a bike in the family fleet. I was hoping for something at least equal to my B&M Cyo Premium 80 lux dynamo light. It can be either Stvzo approved or just a crude cone of light as long as the cone has sharply defined edges so that it can be adjusted downwards to avoid dazzle. The light can have internal or separate battery. Weight isn't really an issue. Ebay seems to be full of cheap powerful lights, but I'm unsure about their light-spillage/ dazzle . (I've already got a cheap £9.99 powerful Far-Eastern rechargeable with a strong central beam, but the peripheral light spillage is such that it's unsafe be used on the road). Any advice ?

I'm OK about the actual wiring job, but I feel unsure about any knock-on effect on the electronics of an Ebike of interfering with the wiring & adding an accessory. I'm probably over-thinking it!

Yes. In fact the manual states that the output from this accessory socket is only 0.5 amps. The resulting 2.5 watts would be insufficient for the type of headlamp which I was hoping to fit, even if I could find a 5 volt lamp.

Crossfire front light - wiring take-off point?
I'm hoping to install a decent ebike front light onto a Carrera Crossfire e-bike. Does anyone know if there is a point in the wiring harness to tap into? Can't see any thing in the manual. I'm aware of the USB socket under the speedo, but this is only 5 volts, which severely limits the choice of suitable lamps.

You're right, I meant South West
Carpark is off the B4314 at its junction with A478

Re: PEMBROKESHIRE KNIGHT'S WAY-local knowledge pls
Feedback: just back from our weekend cycling around Narberth. A pleasant surprise! The bridleways now have an all-weather surface. You can leave the town-centre carpark straight onto the path heading SE, then a quiet lane into Canaston Woods and another all-weather track heading West to Blackpool Mill Bridge. Another paved track then takes you North to Canaston Bridge and quiet lanes north of the A40. A lot of money must have been spent in recent years. Without the bridleway the only Southerly access to/from Narberth would be the steep, narrow and busy A478 - not recommended for nervous cyclists.

A reasonably intelligent relation of mine asked why they don't put dynohubs on electric bikes so you could charge the battery as you ride along.

Re: Overtaking distance - what's all that about
I sometimes have to use a local B road. It's the cyclist's nightmare - fast traffic, and exactly the "wrong" width. It's just wide enough for some motorists to risk passing a cyclist when there's traffic coming the other way, so it's a pretty fraught journey. What is interesting is that I feel far safer at night. I'm well equipped with dynamo plus flashing lights plus reflectives and find that no drivers attempt to squeeze past if another car is approaching, and when they pass they give far more room than in the daytime.

Re: PEMBROKESHIRE KNIGHT'S WAY-local knowledge pls
Many thanks. If, instead of taking the left to Slebech after the Mill bridge we turn right to Canaston Bridge (ie. NE), any idea what the surface is like through Toch woods?

PEMBROKESHIRE KNIGHT'S WAY-local knowledge pls
Would really appreciate some advice. OS map shows route from Templeton to Blackpool Mill, mostly off road bridleway. Is it reasonable for touring bikes in November ? Thanks.

Pop riveter problems - is it just me?
Rivets can be a neat way of repairing mudguards, reinforcing or repairing old panniers etc. However, I do have a problem with rivets often snapping and jamming in the riveter jaws. Removing the broken rivet can be a real pain, in fact I've now got two unusable riveters. Does anyone have any sage advice please ?

OS Maps free on line?
Anyone know of any way of accessing either 1: 25,000 or 1: 50,000 on line?
Thanks
Thanks
