Re: Touring Bike Stem
Has anyone mentioned adjustable stems? Best of all worlds, leaving you free to play around to your heart's content until you decide in the angle. Then you can either buy one or stick to the adjustable one.

Re: Length of guylines on 3x3 tarp
Always make guylines longer than you think you might need. You can make hem shorter but not longer.

Charger for Magicshine lights
I have some older, big battery, Magicshine style lights and would like to get a new charger for them. It’s a round adapter style. Anyone know where you can get them now?

Re: Larger cassette compatabioity
Is it RD-5000? According to the pics. The bike was purchased around 15 years ago.

Larger cassette compatabioity
I need to change my cassette and chain on my old road bike. It has a 105 RD-5000 with a largest 24 tooth on the 9 speed cassette. I’d like to lower the gearing a bit as I struggle on some of my local Devon mountains. Anyone know what my options are?

Re: Suggestions for Belgium/Netherlands
Thanks jdsk and mjr. I have been to Antwerpen and it’s interesting but doesn’t have the same feel as Gent and Bruges. The under river tunnel is fun and bikes on escalators to access it is even more interesting! Good campsite there. Thanks for other suggestions.

Suggestions for Belgium/Netherlands
We are hoping for a 7 day tour in Northern Belgium/ Southern Netherlands. We have been to Bruges and Gent and fancy something a bit further east, towards Maastricht. Are Brussels/Liege worth the visit? Any suggestions for a tour? Thanks

Re: EuroVelo route 12 between Calais and Hoek van Holland
We cycled a fair bit of this last spring - from Sluis to Hoek. Due to time constraints we headed straight through Middelburg rather than do the coast. Beware Middelburg - I had my Brooks saddle and seatpost nicked there. Someone knew what they were looking at. The whole bridge/dam/dyke system on the coast is amazing and the beaches are pretty good too. The weather over the first few days was bitter -in April- so be prepared. We were camping and campsites were either closed or only just open for the majority.
Enjoy!

Re: Parking in Nantes
Not in the Loire but did it in Luxembourg which worked well. Secure, no worries with being ticketed, towed or vandalised.

Re: Another sleeping mat question.
FWIW don”t buy an expensive mat. This is your first camping trip and you might not like it. What’s the point in spending £100 on something you might not use again. Two options I”d say. A) Wait for camping kit to appear at Lidl and Aldi and buy one of theirs. B) Buy a foam one. They are cheap, good enough on the thermal side of things and will even out small bumps.
Then, once you know whether you like camping or not, slowly invest in the gear. It took us about 10 years to feel we have got the gear sorted and we still tweak bits.
Enjoy.

Re: Tyre deflating straight after a ride
Whenever this happens to me, I take the tyre right off and check every small hole I can see on the surface of the tyre. I can then remove all possible culprits. These tiny pieces often appear to not go through the tyre but with pressure on from both sides who knows? I feel proactive doing it anyway.
