Re: Hello All - I am now officially a Recumbent Triker

Hi Geoff - I live in Bedford. Love the Cotswolds - Pudding Club is great as is the beer festival at Hook Norton.

Hi Tangled Metal: mmm the trike Day One: ran into a fence misjudged a corner forgot how to brake ! - all good: Kevin D Tek saved the day “ wonderful customer service “ over and above the norm. Part from that all good on the trike front. Out again tomorrow rain or shine. Got anywhere nice planned for the summer yet?

Thanks Nuke.

Re: First timer, anyone want to put me off?

I am a first timer also: setting off on the 6 May - 28 days approximately using the Sustrans Route in the main. Using an Adventure Trike which I pick up on Thursday of this week. Can’t wait. Camping as much as I can. Just taking my time. :D

Re: How did you break into recumbents?

I have taken the plunge and I pick my new Adventure Trike from Kevin on Thursday fingers crossed. I have spoken to Kevin at DTek a few times and he has as you say been really helpful.

I am unsure as to what tyres I have on the trike exactly the back wheel is 26. I will put the spec on the board when I confirm it. Thanks for all your help in the meantime.

From a trike novice :D

Re: How did you break into recumbents?

Hi Pete - many thanks found the LEJOG threads: I was born in Dundee Hawkhill Road not been back for many a long day. I will take my Route across Fife and through Dundee Arbroath Aberdeen and then over. That is the plan. In my United shirt as I go. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Squeaker: I think I need to have a chat with Kevin of D Tech about gears and stuff. Thanks for taking time to reply.

Re: How did you break into recumbents?

Dear Tigerbiten - I know this may sound odd but I am not sure what my chainring number is: I have an Alfine 8 on the back and 3 cogs on the front- Kevin from D Tech ( who I am buying it from) tells me it is a granny gear ( 22 I think) .

7 long tours is impressive - I cannot wait for week 4 of my journey, I am going to take a month or so: 28 days 1200 miles according to Sustrans but we will see.

Thank you for your kind wishes

Re: How did you break into recumbents?

Being disabled my balance is not great and I have never owned a two wheeler. Recumbents never crossed my mind. I retired in March 2017 and decided to improve my fitness. Started to attend the gym got a personal trainer ( the joys of being retired ) talked about not being able to cycle and a trike was suggested. I take delivery of my Adventure Ice Trike this week. I have lost 20 kg in weight since March and I set off on LEJOG solo with my tent on the 6th May. All advice gratefully received.

Nope you are not on your own: Sustrans Route 28 days 50 miles a day. Sounds good to me. The only problem I see is there appear to be stairs to negotiate in Gloucester. Anyway we will see how it goes

Re: JogLe sight seeing

I am going to do LeJog starting on the 5th May 2018. I am waiting to receive my new Ice Adventure an week now. I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. 1200 miles following the Sustrans Route. No rush will stop for a pint on the way. 28 days camping wild and on official sites when needed. Bought my tent and ready to go.
