After a quick google, it might have been an RX7.

AskMID has it as a MAZDA RX7.

You could kill two birds with the same stone here...

Rember the chaffing conversation? And the discussion of food based padding?

Well it would keep your mars bar warm

yeah - pretty common.

I think my road positioning may be to passive (although I dont want to start another discussion of primary and secondary!), my plan is to experiment with being more assertive in road positioning. Its a tough balance though as I do the same route at the same time every day and have got to be on waving terms with a good few drivers (one guy with a van offered me a lift the other day as it was pouring and windy - I said no but I was amazed at how nice that was!) so I don't want to burn the goodwill I have with them by getting it all wrong. I am planning to leave 20 minutes earlier and take a slightly different route to see how I get on.

My backup plan is to produce a simple webpage with diagrams of what I would expect from a driver when they over take me, explain the issues I face as a cyclist etc and simply give drivers a business card with the URL. The idea there is that I dont end up in an argument with the driver at the time, as that solves nothing, and the driver can read the page at his/her own pace. I think that the issue might be lack of driver knowledge a lot of the time rather than simple dangerous driving. Although if I think the driver was a complete muppet the video will be going on you tube ;)

Perhaps?

It seems cleaner - and things look bigger... If you do try it ask your better half for advice - girls know how to do these strange things to themselves :D

Before I cycled it was something that I perhaps did, but after I started cycling (about 2 years ago) I have had to go a bit wild.

Other than smearing with a barrier cream (a bit to messy for me) is there any suggestions on how to avoid this embarressing itch?

David.
(totally embaressed and never been able to mention this in the pub with cycling friends!).

Erm - strange question but how "tidy" is your hair down below?

The "tidier" I make mine the worse the trouble is... which is a shame as I think its more hygienic - any tips on this?

(Sheesh - thats a hard one to ask!).

I complained once about a taxi here in Glasgow to his company. They clealy had words with him as a few days later the driver saw me again.

He started screaming at me out his cab and shouting that he recognized me as a I was the p***k with the camera... not the smartest man in the world.

Sadly the camera's battery had run flat so I wasnt able to report it to the police with evidence. The interesting thing on this was that police told me when I reported it that I could be said to be "provoking" him by having a camera.

Seems like you cant win with Strathclyde Police...

Ben,

Have you had any luck getting the Police to do anything about driving caught on camera?

Cheers,

I like my specialized tahoe's - they look like a decent pair of trainers. Not very waterproof though.

They dont really offer much ankle protection. Tough as hell though, was in the back of an ambulance a few weeks back (would you believe the driver didnt see me? ) and the paramedics had some grief getting them off. In the end as I wasn't that badly injured (just some blood leaking from knees / elbows / legs, muscle damage and whiplash - not bad for bike v car at around 20 mph) they gave up and undid the laces. They couldnt get the scissors in under the laces and the velcro thing give them trouble. The shoes do look a bit hacked up now though...

Best bet is to try a few pairs on in a shop - they all end up looking the same after a few rides on city streets anyway :)

Could it be something to do with this?

http://www.movingtargetzine.com/forum/discussion/628/couriers-on-culture-show-bbc2/#Item_0

with more info here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cultureshow/

Cycle couriers are in a higher insurance bracket than astronauts. We find out why, with a special report on Alley Cat Racing - the unofficial road races that couriers hold while cities sleep.

I know its about couriers but bikes is bikes to people in TV Land...

If it is this then the next show is Sat 23 February at 19:10.

On a dual use path do we not have a duty of care to the more vunerable user - despite how silly they are being?

Cyclists share dual use "roads" with cars and we expect them to give us room... even if we make a mistake we expect not to be abused by drivers but treated with respect.
