Raleigh Road Ace 531c frame vs. Peugeot Super Vitus PSV10

Post by Solomonpinner »

I have two bikes, a Raleigh Road Ace 531c from (I think) 1987 and a Peugeot Super Vitus 980 PSV10, which I believe is from 1984.

I was wondering which bike would be considered superior and why?

there is not a lot of difference tbh. Preceding versions of the 'super competition' Peugeot models were made in 531 tubing for years. I think the 980 tubing is slightly lighter. Possibly the size breaks where they started to use different tube gauges are different too.

some discussion here

I think the biggest difference between these two frames is likely to be in the geometry, more so in some sizes than others. IIRC they are very different from one another, so much so that in some sizes, if you fit one, you probably won't fit the other.

cheers
