Does anyone know of an efficient tar removing product/ chemical that won't dissolve one's tyres?
Councils seem to have had a particularly active summer this year spraying tar and chippings. We all know what that means especially if we have mudguards on the bike i.e. debris rubbing including inside guards, paint on stays & forks, plus, the collection of nasty flints etc. I usually scrape it after a ride but can never completely remove the lot. What do you do?
Mike.

If it was me I'd try petrol and rinse it off afterwards.

Muc Off has worked for me n the past. I used it on a car's paintwork too. Wash it off though a minute or so later!

Autoglym Tar Remover.

I keep on riding. The tar will eventually get worn off by clean asphalt

Yep.
Petrol.
I had a thread on this recently, I think.
Any road up, petrol worked a treat. Pour some into a dish or something, then dab a rag into it and wipe the tyre. I gave mine a wash in hot soapy water afterwards.
PS
Found it.

Using butter to remove what was called "tar" was a common thing when we were children after going on the beach. Ship discharges and the Torrey Canyon were blamed at the time. Fortunately have never had to do this with our own children.
