On one ferry trip I had the liquid fuel container for my Whisperlite camping stove confiscated and returned empty with no compensation but the x rays inspection failed to observe a sheath knife with 4 inch blade in my pannier, so that was ok
. That was a few years ago between Rosyth and Zeebrugge and that ferry service (Superfast) didn't last long!
