Stolen cycle locks

Leicester city Council will remove ie steal locks lefts on bike racks - are they entilted to do this - only after they have been there a few weeks- are they entilted to do so?

I think you'll find they are entitled. The same subject has come up before.

A heap of abandoned locks around the base of a stand can make it awkward for legitimate users to lock their bikes properly, and it also looks unsightly (which is probably the main reason).
If they post a date on which the lock removal will take place, carry your lock with you between then and when you see the remaining locks vanish, and then revert to leaving your lock on the stand.

It's surely better to carry your lock anyway. What are you going to do if you arrive to lock your bike and can't unlock your lock because it's developed rust, or someone's jammed it? Go home? Leave you bike unlocked all day?
There's also the issue of not having a lock if you want to stop somewhere on the way home.

No, a frame lock.
A lock that is attached to the frame.

If somebody attached a bike lock (or anything else) to a fence or railings that belonged to me I would feel entitled to remove it. I expect a council will have the same rights with its property.

Most locks come with handy frame attachments, but heaven forbid anyone having to ruin the looks of thier retro hipster steed or the lines of thier carbon wonder bike!

OP sounds like the kind of person to try and sue the council if they tripped over an abandoned lock!

Why won't you simply take your lock with you? Is it laziness or arrogance?

Let's say that some old dear 90 year old trips over your lock, breaks her hip and subsequently dies...you'd be in deep trouble.

More likely the council will get sued, so its not surprising they remove them
