Zaffiro Pro tyres w/reflective sidewalls

Post by Grey Area »

My new (Boardman) bike came with the above tyres in a 700cx32 size - I was looking to get some spares as I like them but it seems they don't exist on the Vittoria page - [edit] to be clear, with the reflective sidewalls.

Are these perhaps a special order for Boardman or am I just not looking properly?

Thanks

You are missing part of the name. Vittoria is the make, but you need the name of the model. They could be Rubino Pro or Randonneur Pro, more likely the latter. I have them on my touring bike and they do have reflective sidewalls.

Isn't Zaffiro the name of the model?

I'd go for the superior Rubinos or Randonneur/Voyager, or switch to Schwalbe.

I don't think Zaffiro Pros are available with reflective sidewalls, are they? I've seen 'em in several colours as well as
all-black, but not with reflective strips...

Yes, i should have said that my list isn't exhaustive. There are many different models in the Vittoria range, several of them have a Pro variant.

It also looks as if some of the ones which were Pro models have now been renamed Tech.

All of the Urban Tech series seem to have reflective sidewalls.

Apparently not publicly, but they do exist - I've got some!

Thanks, I'll take a look - although there now seems to be quite a range of Rubino named tyres (Pro speed, pro control, pro endurance - aaaahh :D ), I've clicked a few but have yet to find a 700cX32 - I'll keep looking later.

Cool - well they must have been a "special" then so it's not just me - I'm a creature of habit so if I've got something I tend to stick on it. Appreciate the tips, thanks.

The Rubino is an upmarket version of the Zaffiro. I think it has a higher thread count, from memory, around 150 tpi as opposed to 60 tpi for the Zaffiro. Both the Zaffiro and Rubino are regarded as performance road tyres, so mainly come in sizes up to 28mm wide. Randonneur, Voyager, etc are aimed more at the touring/hybrid market, so are heavier, come in wider widths, but provide greater comfort and load bearing capacity.
