If i had a thorn xtc -26" 135mm OLN wheels,deore triple chainset with external b.b.,orbit XLII 1/1/8TH headset ,would I correct in thinking these would all swap over with no hidden suprises?

Shouldn't be any problems assuming Surly bottom bracket shell correctly face for external BB.

I'd see no problems but I'd leave the headset with the original frame/ forks. Unless you are too skint to buy another.
