I've been changing the blocks on my Tiagra caliper brakes and noticed that the piece of tape wrapped around one arm of each set is peeling off.
I assume it's not vital so have removed it. There is also tape wrapped in the same place on my other bike's Shimano calipers.
So what's it for ? My guess is packing/protection? I notice it's missing or nicely hidden in all the photos when I googled Shimano Caliper.
Thanks
What's the bit of tape on Shimano calipers for?
Re: What's the bit of tape on Shimano calipers for?
Yes, just packaging, stops one side marking the other when there's no cable attached.

Thanks PH.
That confirms what I thought. Strange that it was left on the brakes on 2 different bikes but I suppose it's all time in prep.
