I was looking at this as a replacement for my clicking Kalloy seatpost . . . .
From the picture I cannot see any way of tilting the saddle - the bottom rail clamp seems to be in a fixed position.
A fixed position could be a major problem if it does not suit the user.
Any owner/knowledgeable comments please.
Seatpost Nitto S83 - can it tilt ?
Re: Seatpost Nitto S83 - can it tilt ?
No personal experience but it looks adjustable to me: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/prod ... 7448_2.jpg

Thanks. That is a better picture than any of the ones I was examining.
A better price too ( than Planet-X )

Re: Seatpost Nitto S83 - can it tilt ?
From the picture on the sjs link it looks to have a lot in common with the Campag seatpins from the 1980s, which was when the world was young, and those seatpins certainly were saddle-angle adjustable. A bit fiddly to set the angle, but to me they were the best of seatpins.
If they had a problem it was the limited lay-back if I was fitting a Brooks saddle on a frame with a steep seat-tube angle.............I couldn't always get the saddle far enough back.

Re: Seatpost Nitto S83 - can it tilt ?
IIRC this seatpin is (of course, aren't they all...? ) adjustable. The lower rail support sits in a curved scallop, and is positioned for tilt using the two bolts. In the Nitto design, both bolts are easy to access from beneath.
BTW when adjusting similar seat pins, which are not so well designed, the front bolt is usually difficult to get at. It is therefore often easiest if you slacken the rear bolt completely, then adjust the front bolt for tilt, then retighten the rear.
cheers

Thanks Brucey, JohnW.
I thought I had better check, just in case what appeared to be a constrained design really was a constrained design ( however unlikely ).

+1 for that.
I have three in use - the oldest is well past it's fiftieth birthday.
The Nitto though looks as if it may be easier to adjust.
I have never found single bolt "microadjust" seat pins to do the job as well.

Re: Seatpost Nitto S83 - can it tilt ?
I agree. The one single bolt seat pin design that seems to be OK is the 'hockey stick' type which uses a wedge action to lock the adjustment. This has the inestimable advantage that, should the thing ever slip, there are no serrations to ruin; 99 times out of 100 it is simply a question of retightening the bolt again and you are good.
