Cairo to Cape Town

Hi there, is anyone you know planning a cycle route from Cairo to Cape Town over the next few months?. I am a mountain bike owner and love the outdoors especially Africa.
I hold a UK and SA passport, Im a male of 54 years and currently live in UK but have a property in Cape Town so thought what a great way to get there.

Just finished reading Mark Beaumonts book. Would love to do this someday, so please keep this post updated with your route, progress and any lessons learned along the way.....at the moment it just doesn't seem safe?

Hi. I'm Blanca. I'm 59 and At the moment I'm spending a few months in London after touring solo for nearly two years between London and Cambodia via Iran and the Pamir Highway. My plan was to fly to Cairo around mid Jan 2018 with the idea to cycle to Cape town but having read about police escorts in Egypt, stoning in Ethiopia and tricky Ethiopia/Kenya border crossings I'm considering my options. With company I wouldn't think twice about it but a woman and on my own... Do stay in touch, I'd love to follow your progress and if it worked out maybe share some cycling together, mind you I am SLOW (average over the last 22 months 10Km/hour!!!)
