Hi. I am planning a charity ride from dover to bournemouth and just wanted some terrain details. Is it possible to do this route on a road bike or do i need to take my mtb?
Are there any good food/lodgings on the way? I'm doing this with a friend who thinks 50miles is a long way.
Any comments will help.
(Ive done landsend to bournemouth already)
Thanks
Nathan
Is it possible to ride the ncr2 from dover to bournemouth on a road bike?

Welcome to the forum.
Some pointers based on feedback from local Volunteer Rangers, no personal experience.
Leaving Dover on NCN2, definitely MTB. Route signs through and around Folkstone are often turned to point the wrong way by vandals. Sustrans mapping shows a local route from Rye Harbour to Winchelsea Beach, mostly traffic free, pancake flat; it would be my choice for that section.

I did it last year on my bent trike.
Going over the top of the downs, it was basically a rough macadam farm track.
So in dry weather it will be passable on an unladen road bike.
But if it's wet, then forget it .....
