More likely something to do with the UK Raleigh Professional racing team, who were co-sponsored by The Banana Group at one point. So there were quite a lot of Raleigh Banana bikes about. I believe Paul Sherwen rode for the team.

The thread so far concludes that it's a mass produced budget bike, with a "limited edition" paint job.
There has been nothing so far to suggest that the "limited edition" paint job adds significantly to the value of what is a twenty-something year old mass produced budget bike.
