A good cafe in Appleby
A good cafe in Appleby
Hoping to be riding around Appleby area on Friday. Any recommendations on a good cafe to stop at?

My favourite cafe is now one to avoid.
Eden River cafe used to be owned by a lovely couple who'd do anything for you. Called in last year and thoroughly disappointed ...it's changed hands. Next time I'm there I'm going to try the one next door if no one comes along with another recommendation.
The best one I know in the area is Cafe66 , it's the old little chef on the side of the A66 but getting there by bike you'll need to be 'hard'.

Eden Valley cycling group have 4 listed for Appleby

Not sure how much of a recommendation their list is though, maybe more of just a list? I would disagree with their choice for Moffat

Agreed, both excellent. I quite like Kennedy's in Orton as well. The road over great Asby scar is one of my favourites. There's also a great B and B in Appleby if anyone wants one - 48 Boroughgate, just near the castle.
