]Hi Everybody
I'm trying to identify the frame builder and year in which this tandem was built. There is a serial number on the sokers seatpost D617 it came with Chater - Lea dropouts Bottom/Bracket and Headset. The original saddles were Brooks from the 1940s and Resilon Centilever brakes, Williams C1000 cranks. Any ideas?

It might be a Sun?? http://www.oldbike.eu/museum/1930s/1939 ... sp-tandem/ Yours doesn't have the mountings for a heel brake, but maybe it was built prior to the introduction? Or a custom build? I don't really know anything about them. I happened to notice the forks and lugs were similar. You can try looking around other places on https://oldbike.wordpress.com/ They also have has serial number systems for various manufacturers and lots of photos of old bikes.
Classic Lightweights have some catalogues and other information on-line that might be of help. There are also some available to members, if you contact the Veteran Cycle Club. They might be able to tell you from the frame number. Most companies of that era used a numerical frame numbering system. Not so many used letters, so might be able to definitively identify it.

Unlikely to be a Sun with Chater Lea fittings, Sun were more middle of the road makers except for a few of their top end solo machines. All the Sun tandems I've seen have a large diameter tube extending rearwards of the stokers bottom bracket which then has a lug for the chainstays.
My guess is a lightweight builder such as Hobbs or Macleans or one of the many other building similar frames

I was going by the fork crowns and lugs. Other bits are easy to replace.
Edited to add: the frame structure is also quite similar to the frame on the Oldbikes page linked above.
