I'm looking for some advice, my wife is after a bike to commute to work. I noticed an outfit in Cambridge that is selling a number of second hand Dutch style bikes with hub gears and drum brakes. Has anyone had any experience of The Green Hat?

Dutch Bike?

I think this one :- https://www.greenhatcycles.com/
as it actually has bicycles!
Dutch bikes come in all prices qualities. Cheap ones tend to go for ages but are more of a faff to adjust/repair. Gazelle is pretty much top of the pile. A tad heavy (but usually includes lights/stand/rack/lock etc etc) and ride superbly.
I have seen a Batavus and a Trek dutch bike (from Holland) with hub brakes with V brake levers (the wrong sort for the brakes, so gave modest to poor braking), so it might be worth checking the brakes/levers when you buy.

Not for me, it doesn't - an almost-blank website, probably killed stone dead by browser security, although I've not checked.
I think it's actually the same company from the address and the description on facebook - but rather strangely, the co.uk is registered to Loyal Trade LTD of Sofiya, Bulgaria while the com is hidden behind Contact Privacy Inc of Toronto. Both domains were created summer 2017 so I guess it's a fairly new online presence.

Thanks for the gen, we were going to have a look in person rather than buying something online. I'll look out for the Gazelle as it was that make that caught my eye.

If you are considering a weekend break somewhere this winter you could pop over to the Netherlands and whilst there buy a new one for about the same money.
