Toying with building an off road tourer using XT Di2 groupset but as using semi drops will require STI levers/shifters. As far as I can see the Ultegra 6870 STI Levers will run the FD and RD but they are designed for rim brakes cable operated. Reluctant to go hydraulic disc at present unless I can plumb into XT hydraulic calipers although I see some Crossers using hydraulic discs.
Anyone know if I can use these levers for cable disc brakes. Will bb7s work with these and should they be road or mtb calipers or is there something obvious I am overlooking?
XT/Ultegra
Re: XT/Ultegra
I think you can either
a) use cable brake STIs and use (road spec) BB7s or similar, or
b) use XT calipers with the ultegra level hydro STIs; IIRC (and do double check before buying anything) some of the current 'road' and 'MTB' calipers use the same size pistons and interchange OK
BTW none of this is my cup of tea exactly but that isn't the question, is it...?....
cheers
